I thought the MSRP was set at $349 for the Anniversary Edition. I'm hoping a sale brings it below $300. If it's below $300, I might get 1 to replace my 5900X for gaming.
But it's limited stock. I was going to wait but needed the cooler so pulled

to the new buyer, research on how to undervolt this processor. I got better performance, less heat, and never crashed even after days of video encoding.

Been running a 5800x3d since launch, must be one of the strongest cpus ever. Probably no need to move to AM5 ever.
the x3d series were made for gaming. i went to am5 7800x3d because I couldn't get my hands on a 5800x3d back then. its just sad what data centers and ai are doing to everything

I wonder if this is going to hurt the software makers in the near future.

Imagine a badass PC only game and nobody can play it because of scarce or overpriced hardware.

Oh, so the supply shortage was artificial after all.

Yes, always was driven by scalpers. This is one of the worst deals currently for CPUs. Performance and price of an entire AM5 bundle at Micro Center, and near every reply will be gamers that do not have a GPU to warrant this CPU on AM4.

I splurged on the last AM4 products. It was top of mature Ryzen processor path and I didn't want new for awhile. Now I am glad I didn't because new games have been lame and don't need new Ryzens. I wanted Borderlands 4 but its a flop so I'm going to return to old games like Witcher 3 and RDR4 (never played them before). I would like this processor but I have a 5900X that cost me $475 at the time

Grab this and a 5070 and stick with AM4 for my upgrade?I ONLY care about 1440 and play mostly games 2023 and before
I have a 5600X ($80) with a RX 6800 (under $250) and play any non modern game at 4K60. Don't need more than that honestly.

Yo, you and me both are in the same boat. However, I refuse to buy the 5800X3D at such elevated prices since I already own an unused 5700X3D which I bought back in Oct 2024 for $145 all in and I'm still waiting to receive a 9070 XT that I bought from a seller on AliExpress the Sunday right before Prime Day for less than $500. What this launch implies to me is that AMD intends to take advantage of the RAMpocalypse situation due to folks deciding to hold on to their AM4 builds longer till current RAM prices subside which currently doesn't do me any favors. Maybe when AMD decides to price the 5800X3D at $250 or lower would be when I'd be willing to take a shot at it.

I agree, it is a great CPU but not worth $350. I think it should be $275 at most. I now have a 5800X3D, a 7800X3D, and a 9800X3D.
The 7800X3D vs 5800X3D feels about 30% faster in general for the games I play (obviously every game is different) so it was worth it.
The 9800X3D vs 7800X3D barely feels 5%-10% faster so I feel that "upgrade" was a big waste of money for me.
