Pro tip: lubricate the end of the meat thermometer before insertion, burns a little going in.
Minor quibbles: Menus are pretty straightforward. Only minor annoyance is be sure to set the meat type before using, as you can't change mid-use. Probes do accumulate a bit of baked on grease after each use, but it will scrub off.
They work from inside a Masterbuilt electric smoker, and through a window and a wall. The ambient sensors on them actually alerted me that the smoker was not getting up to temperature so I had Amazon replace the smoker. Saved the ribs by putting them in the oven, left the probes in and the ambient temperature on the probes correctly registered the oven temperature to where I set it. I know the oven is accurate because I have been using it for years. Ribs were saved, and these things alerted me to the defective smoker in time to get it replaced. Very nice gadget. Well worth the $40. Already paid for itself as far as I'm concerned.
