Though I will concede that the new 5070 laptop gpu's with 12gb of VRAM aren't bad.
I opened it at the counter and inspect it in front of them. If it's bad, I am already inline to return. I've done this twice so far and I tell sales associate and they're always "all good, I don't blame you"
There is usually enough counter space I can just shift down if needed

Ah. Bonus Caveat: verify the warranty terms - if you're only getting warranty since initial purchase, I'd go ebay + allstate warranty instead of BBY open box.

Rule #1 of open box at Best Buy, always check it at the store before walking out. I even open CPU-Z and double check all of the components, run a few stability tests, and benchmarks before I leave the store.
