Took a glance at Kroger via DD. Prices seem significantly higher than in store. Add in a $15-20 tip and this suddenly becomes a meh deal. What am I missing?

I just replicated same exact cart on Kroger and it's $15 less before tip. Even with a $10 tip I'm saving $25 with the $50 discount. Since I paid $75 for a $100 DoorDash gift card a couple weeks ago that's another $20 or so I saving. So I am saving $45 and an hour of my time to go shopping? It's a hell of a deal.

I'm in a super rural area with no DD delivery options at all. When a good offer hits I'll drive into the nearest town and usually meet a driver at a medical office building for drop off. The convenience really doesn't come into play in my case. I can see where that is a benefit for others though.

The stacking makes sense. I would tip more than $10 on a $100 prediscount order though. Your example explains the excitement of the offer. I usually am on board with the offers like this, but struggled to find a way to make this work. Thanks for the response.

Seriously...are people tipping 10-15% on an order? My default is 5%. FWIW, my Kroger is 7 blocks from my house.

I actually do shopping orders for DoorDash as a side hustle at the exact Kroger I am ordering from. Item count, distance, and difficulty of items matters far more than order value. I live half a mile from Kroger and my order is pretty simple. It's only about 7 items and most of them are in the same aisle. It's all prepackaged stuff and no large things like water. Yes if you live on the other side of town and you're ordering 25 items that are $3-$4 each that consist of things like produce and cases of water and sending the shopper all of the store. A higher tip would be nice. If I got this order when I was dashing I would jump on it in a heartbeat. It wouldn't take more than 20 minutes to make $15 or so. Realistically my order will get stacked with a shittier order for the dasher where it is 25 items and they tipped $5. And my tip will actually be carrying all the weight lol.
Already dead? Just checked at 12:09a PT, and there's a message saying "This week's grocery deal has wrapped," which is different from what it was showing yesterday. Guessing it dropped at Midnight ET/9p PT, which would explain it being gone already. 🙁

I was setting up my cart at 11:30pm PT and the banner still says something about the deal is only on 7/15. I checked back at 12:03am PT and it says deal has wrapped. I had this happens few days or weeks ago (deal not showing up) when they had the promotion on DoorDash gift card ($25 off on $100). I think it's a system error. I would check again in the morning
