Community Reviews

The Panasonic Z8 OLED stands out as a 77 inch set with strong picture quality, excellent processing, and unusually good built in sound, with some calling the audio good enough to skip a soundbar. It also gets praise for gaming at 144Hz and for handling HDR10 plus and Dolby Vision, while the larger size is a clear upgrade over smaller TVs. The main cautions are that it shines best in dimmer rooms and that the brand's future ownership has raised warranty and long term support questions. A compelling option if you want a big OLED with serious audio.

Common Questions (5)

  • The built-in audio is reported to be unusually strong for a TV, with some owners saying it removes the need for a soundbar. It also has a built-in sound bar and can hook up a subwoofer for a fuller setup.

  • The 77-inch size is repeatedly described as a major upgrade that you will notice immediately, especially if you are coming from a 55- or 65-inch set. Buyers also say the jump beyond 77 inches gets expensive fast, making this size the sweet spot for value.

    azndan2hotrokr909Enlightened0n3

  • Yes. The 144Hz panel is reported to handle PC and console gaming well, and the TV's built-in sound is strong enough that some buyers skip a separate soundbar. It also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision, which helps HDR gaming and movies look more complete.

    Fuzb0Enlightened0n3

  • It is described as best for rooms that are not very bright, though another owner says it is brighter than a Panasonic B4 and works well in a brighter living room. For very bright spaces, other TVs were preferred in the discussion.

    Grayson73Enlightened0n3

  • Yes. The warranty is said to be honored through repair-cost coverage, replacement with warranty stock, or a check. The Skyworth licensing change is described as an ownership change, not a stop in manufacturing.

Haven't owned a Panasonic TV since they made plasma TVs. This seems like a good price for the size. Are they still a good brand?

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank

The Panasonic has a great picture and the sound is fantastic. I'm tempted to get another. The 144hz does all I hoped on pc and console gaming.

The sound though really seals it. No need for an additional soundbar and that setup . Built in stuff works so well!

This is best if your room is not very bright, and it has really good built-in speakers. I'd also use it with Apple TV 4K or Roku

Yes, but this is probably their last year of selling TVs. They will likely sell their name to some Chinese company who will sell low quality sets with their name.

Already happened in April. Will have to wait and see what Skyworth does with the brand name.

Ex wife threw something and broke my Panasonic Plasma a little over a year ago. Had to dig out the Pioneer Pro 151 from the garage. Needing something to send it back into retirement. This one might work

I got this a few months back at $1300. Overall I'm very satisfied with it. I came from an LG C1 55" (that I paid $1100 for) and this TV is a little better than that. It's a great deal.
