For this company, which is based in Hong Kong, which is now China, they either ship from Cali or China. Openwrt firmware is available. The only caveat to this, or any other chinese product, is their optional cloud control service. I would not enable that. Giving the ccp direct access control to your router is not a good security feature.

As an aside, the Flint 4 is being released by end of year. They are clearing stock. For raw horsepower, from what's available, the Flint 2 is still the better option, unless you must have wifi 7.

I have some... apprehension, around security, of buying things like routers etc from companies like Temu and AliExpress but it's hard to ignore the prices they have lately.

Always open to learning, so I'm curious if anyone has any advice or feedback of their buying experience with these types of items?

TIA

I purchased this through Ali a few days ago. Came directly from California. It works well and boosted my Wisp connection up to 450mbps MLO. I was previously getting 20mbps on my landlords connection. I'm very very pleased.

So this product from GL.iNet, TEMU or Aliexpress modified it and sell to you and try to steal sensitive information from you?

It's a weird notion. It's manufactured in China. And if you try to order it online, it comes from China. They also have a direct store on AliExpress.

If you need more than 1GB performance, then get the ASUS RT-BE92U (BE9700), but it costs about $198 right now. This one offers nearly as great in performance & is the best value for sure.

It's highly unlikely a reseller would mess with brand name routers they purchase. Glinet is a highly regarded router because they adopt openwrt firmware, which means your firmware is open source and transparent to folks who can scrutinize its security features.

At this point id rather my information ends up half way across the globe in China than fed domestically into palantir. The land of the free will label you a terorist for putting your hand in the pool. Realistically, whats Chinese government will do with it? Lower my social score?

I recall the firmware that's sold in AliExpress vs USA store were different.

I heard 2.4Ghz performance is bad on Flint 3?

Then how did zucko get rich? He sure doesn't sell a product worth anything. Why do flock cams exist? Data is very valuable. You should protect it.

I was like you. Just order with PayPal you'll be fine. Security is not anymore an issue than glinet sneaking stuff in.
