Does it work for a kid? I mean, not only as a scooter but as an actual bike with pedal assist? A few other types I bought previously were completely unsuitable for any pedaling due to weird location of the pedals

Judging by the seat height, it might be ok for kids but I think those are "regulation pedals." What I mean is the tube height doesn't seem to extend enough for the model (a woman, on average they're shorter than men) to have a seat high enough to fully extend the leg and get good pedaling power. Regulations don't allow unregistered electric motorcycles to operate on roads without a license/permit and insurance, but a moped (motor pedal bike) or eBike isn't regulated the same in most states (PA is the exception I know of), so slap some pedals on for show and most people can ride them on public roads/bike paths.

This could go a couple of mph faster with a higher voltage battery... but still, looks like a real slick deal, would be a fantastic summer alternative for grocery runs and saving gas. The whole thing only costs like 3-4 gas tanks!!!

My niece who is about 5' 100lbs bought this and I put it together. Comes in a rectangle big box. Its somewhat heavy for a kid to carry in and out the house. You see where the middle part is connect to the bike rack. I use that part to carry it in or the back of seat cushion. When she use to visit I would assist her bringing it up about 5 flight of stairs. She can do it but I'll help anyway. So hopefully you don't have to do that. It does fold down. Only the handle part and is held pretty strongly with the clamp when placed. Just be careful not to clip your fingers. She paid roughly $300 and it does take off for her even on the start off because the throttle is very sensitive. It's a twist type. So before you actually ride it on e-mode. Make sure the bike is turn off. Because if you carry out while holding the twist throttle the bike will take off if on the ground. I think you need a key to stay inserted for it to be operational on E-mode. So it can be stolen if you forget it. You can pedal while riding I did. Just like exercising. Has a decent bright light and it came with a free lock and helmet combo along with the purchase. A cheap cable lock and mount. Brakes are pretty solid. It's not fast for an adult but its pretty fun. 15-18mph was the fastest at my current weight. You can add mirrors and a basket on the bike. I did that so she can take the dog/cat for a ride. She had the seat almost all the way down. I had to put it up. I'm 5'8" 165lbs. I have a faster e-bike but even this tiny thing was fun for a bit. I know it shows the chain being expose but the one she bought had a guard and if you go to the company website. It shows both pictures of a bike without a guard and with one. Double check before you buy. Tires are good and you may need to help the kid pump it because its a tight spot between the rim and the curved valve. Sorry for a long paragraph. Tbh I think this is a good deal but just recently I had the crappiest first time return with aliexpress. One whole month just to get a refund.

Forgot to mentioned. I bought it for her directly from the company and not a third party seller about 2 years ago. She still rides it when she doesn't feel like driving and its like 38lbs I think.

Not without gears, the pedals are mostly for show/regulations.
