Just a heads up, the plastic buttons on these will crack VERY EASILY and you will not be able to close the spout. I attempted to warranty the lid and was denied. I really thought Owala would honor a replacement top, which they sell for $7 on their website.

I'm on the other end of this spectrum: I have like 20 Owalas (I don't know why), and this has never happened to me. The spring came off of one of my lids one time and Owala honored their warranty and sent me a replacement for free.

Edit: I will say I no longer buy this version as the Freesip Sway fits my cupholders whereas the OG Freesip does not.

Still the best water bottle I have ever owned though.

We have multiple of them and none have had the button break also. The spring also came off one of ours when it fell but I was able to reinstall it. It bent a little and doesn't flip up as strongly but still works fine.

Having a bottle that you can sip from a straw (without tilting) or drink like a glass (open-mouth works for protein shakes and chewing ice) is a game changer.

For what it's worth, I usually use my 24oz Owala because the 32oz and 40oz don't fit in any of our car cupholders. Still our go-to bottle for many years and they're all going strong.

Got our first one end of 2021. Looks like they came out in March 2020. Feels longer than 5 years though. We have 6 FreeSips between me, my wife, and toddler. Other than a few small dents from drops, no major issues. We also throw them in the dishwasher even though Owala says they're dishwasher safe but recommend hand washing the bottle to protect the finish. I can't stress enough how helpful the built-in straw system is, especially with a toddler or while driving.

Those you mention, and the item in this deal, are the older version of the freesip.

Note the tapered bottom on the new version here:

The newer "sway" version has a much better handlebar and is tapered to fit in a cup holder. I think these are dropping in price because of that.

I had the 24oz of this but returned it for the 30oz sway. enjoyed the 30oz enough that I got a 40oz sway as well. Now I dual wield them in my backpack holsters. I also have had a 16oz zojirushi for a few years which keeps insulation much better. The owallas' straw system makes me drink a lot more. Only damage that occurred on any of the 3 was when I dropped one fleeing a pack of rabid deer fly, which dented the outer steel layer of the 30oz where it landed. Doesn't effect performance but it's a bit more wobbly now.
