The real question is do you need a compact Bluetooth speaker? If so, this is a great one. You won't regret it. However, if it's not something you really have a use for, then it's throwing $50 out the window, no matter how good it is.

Yes, you can use the stereo feature with your current speaker and the one from Costco, provided the Costco speaker is also a 2nd Gen model. Stereo pairing with identical speakers is supported either via the Bose app or the physical Shortcut button.
However, a quick note about the Costco model: club stores often sell a "Special Edition" (SE). If the Costco version is an SE or an older 1st Gen model, stereo linking may revert to Party Mode (which duplicates audio instead of separating left and right channels).

I would just buy it and if it doesn't work, return it.

There was a firmware update a few months back that changed their behavior. For example, it won't tell you
The battery percentage and a sound when the speakers turn off. You can find complaints about it.
I am trying to avoid updating the firmware by not using the Bose app with the speakers when connected to the internet. Both speakers need to be on the same firmware to pair.
