Still don't have a good answer, how much is the multihead worth over this? Wanting the snow shovel and edger but most likely can live with just the trimmer

I have multi head with edger. I would have liked edger and other attachments with multi-head and standalone trimmer

I have the snow shovel and edger. I like the edger, but love the snow shovel. Also have the string trimmer as a standalone unit, and it's the most used piece of equipment I have.
Mf me, this goes on sale the day before mine gets delivered.. I paid 180 or so bit more w/ tax i think but I had gift cards so really I didn't pay shhhhhhhit. But still This thing is frigging AWESOME, It whoops the llamas ass if you know what i mean, It has the power of a gas weed wacker and almost sounds like one minus the annoying 2 stroke engine blarring very loudly in your ear, This thing is an addition to the mower I just bought on prime day, Two of the most used pieces of equipment I own mostly cause there just that much fun to use lol
I've been using this for several years and it works great. My only beef is it burns through the line too fast and I find myself refilling it after every other lawn care day. Other than that it's a buzzsaw to thick weeds. Hedge trimmer makes a great companion tool.

Honestly I wouldn't get the multi head over a trimmer only unit. I have the multi-head with trimmer, ended up still buying the stand alone trimmer. The multi-head unit is much heavier( do have the carbon fiber version of the trimmer) and super super unbalanced not an enjoyable experience using the trimmer, if you have really small yard it's probably fine. The multi-head attachments are also more expensive usually, only get it if you can't get a stand alone tool that does that function.
I still use the multihead for the pole saw and edger attachments.

The dedicated trimmer is going to be much more efficient than the multi-head system. The trimmer has the motor directly connected to the spinning head. Very efficient. The multi-head system uses a spinning shaft with the motor up in the handle; that uses a gearbox to transfer the spinning motion inside the shaft to the head of the multi-head. There is extra friction and drag in this interface that is not present in the dedicated trimmer. I'd get this stand-alone if you need your trimmer to last a long time. Otherwise, the multi-head system is solid.
I'm not a fan of Ego company, there warranty turned me down once several years ago. BUT I'm getting sick of gas string trimmers. I am somewhat getting into a pattern here. Buy on sale, run it for a few years then sell it %80 of what I paid. Rinse and repeat. Normally I can find these in the $100-$120 but I am currently in need of one. Ego tends to hold value on the second hand market. The batteries rarely last past 3 years, especially if your like me and need nearly the full capacity of the 2.5 Ah battery.
