Have this. it's very, very light duty. bogs down extremely easily even on soft pine. i'm a ryobi fan, but this saw is a big disappoitment.

Good to know! Skill makes a corded version with an LED shadow light. Has anyone here tried that one? The 12" versions (by DeWalt and others) are cartoonishly large, heavy, and inappropriate for most homeowners.

I have this saw, and its my go to when cutting trim. It isn't very useful for cutting 2x4s.

If you already have a mitersaw and were just looking for a portable one, consider using a large backup battery like an Ecoflow.
I use my Ecoflow Delta 2 (~1KWh) to run my mitersaw because I couldn't justify paying so much just for portability

I believe this uses the same brushed motor as their stand alone 7-1/4" circular saw, so that makes sense that it doesn't have a lot of torque. I've used that circular saw before and you can't push it through wood nearly as fast as a "normal" 10in size corded miter saws I've used. I switched from the 7-1/4" brushed to brushless circular saw and noticed a modest torque improvement so if they made this miter saw in brushless I'd think about getting it. If you need 3 batteries then this is 100% a slickdeal and you should get it as this miter saw is normally about $179 by itself, but if you don't need more batteries then I wouldn't get this saw and I'd get something brushless or a 10" diameter saw with more torque and depth of cut. A 10" saw is able to cut through 3.5" to 4.0" rather than 2.0" to 2.5" which is a lot more handy since most people who need to cut wood will eventually need to cut things larger than just a 2x4 such as a 4x4 or 4x6 which is what I've run into multiple times, and having to cut half way through then flip the 4x4 to cut the other side is annoying, and something switching to a 10" miter saw would solve.

The deal looks appealing to me, but what keep bothering me is what benefit do I get from a cordless miter saw vs corded? It is heavy and will likely be stationary once I set it up in my garage. Even if I bring it outside, it will likely sit in one place until it's done. So an extension cord is all I need. Not sure what's the benefit of battery vs cord for this heavy equipment.
