i bought the 12,000 variant of the same model a month ago @ walmart for $250 and it's been working well. the remote is the same as the upgraded version so it has a display in the middle that doesn't actually display anything, and it's not as quiet as i'd like, but no AC i've ever tried has been and the price was good. no real complaints (yet)

seems most negative reviews are for the 6,000 model having way too high of expectations, and for the noise

I'm waiting for a WiFi one to go on sale. 3/6 of our air conditioners are WiFi capable and it's such a game
Changer especially when you are not home and want to turn it on prior to arriving. I want to replace the other three non WiFi ones so bad!

Lets buy the smallest ac and attempt to cool the entire house with it...

FWIW, I was able to cool my master br with 3 adults using a 6kBTU AC powered by a small generator overnight during a power outage event a couple of summers ago. While it took a while to cool, when it did, I had to grab the thicker blanket.

Apparently this is a pretty bad design, the moisture will drip down to the control panel and corrode the electronics there over time.

Ive gone through at least 12 of these. They last 1-3 years and the bearings get so noisy you need to replace whole unit.
