This cantilever patio umbrella stands out for solid build quality and long-term durability, with multiple reports of it holding up for years and surviving winters when covered. The solar LED lights are a weak point, though, since the output is very dim and some units needed troubleshooting or would not turn on at first. The canopy is mainly suited to sun, not rain, and the setup can be heavy because the base needs a lot of sand and water. A replacement canopy is available, which helps extend its life.
Common Questions (4)
The built-in solar LED light is very dim and can be useless for lighting the area. The rib button cycles warm light, white light, then off, and the light can be powered by plugging into the outlet if the solar/battery side is faulty.
The base can require about 260 lbs of sand plus water for proper stability. The setup is the hardest part, and ordering the sand ahead of time can help because the Home Depot app may undercount how much is needed.
Yes. The canopy can be replaced, and Home Depot sells a replacement canopy fabric for this Hampton Bay cantilever solar umbrella, which is cheaper than replacing the whole unit.
It is mainly for sun, not rain. The canopy fabric can let water seep through, so it is better treated as shade coverage rather than a waterproof shelter.

- The led is solar but the light output is so low it is useless. Better to just hang a small AA power camping lamp
- The umbrella is only good for the sun. NOT rain. The fabric is is more like clothing and water seep through.
- I can't comment on the base and stability. I don't use and have them bar strapped to my porch railing to hold it up. My porch is small and hanging a straight umbrella right in the middle is not possible.
- Quality is good.
At 200 it's pricy IMHO as I do see patio umbrellas for $30 but the are straight and requires a table with umbrella hole. So this have a niche. For my use case.If you have a plastic or wooden table one option is to drill a hole in it for the cheaper straight umbrella
