I think it will be helpful for all of us to provide links, not just words.
If anyone can spend another $200-300 then why would they be looking at a $200 laptop in the first place. If can spend $500-$600, then save another couple of bucks and why not go for $700 laptop then? Save another and go for $800 for an even better laptop. Sounds illogical to say that.
11th Gen i5 with 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD and Win 11 Pro at this price is a steal and certainly more than enough for the tasks anyone would be looking to do on a $200-$300 laptop. Comment on this laptop being at the price of $200-$220, instead of suggesting a $500-$600 laptop.

Fun fact: This has been FP multiple of times for much more than this. People who actually know about laptops, specs-to-price ratio and the current state of the PC-parts, can easily agree and vouch that this is a great deal even if it was $250, let alone near $200.

i'm glad you said that because these are excellent business class machines just not for games. Batteries are easily replaceable. Anything over a G6 though is hard to replace the keyboard. Please don't buy them. They typically come with WIndows Pro, thumbprint and face id. Touch screen sometimes. But yes, they suck particularly for $200.

I partially agree with you in that this laptop is worth $200-250.
It is not a 'steal' it is a solid price, laptops with these specs are frequently sold near this price point. The $549 pre discount price is a sellers fantasy.
I think the post you are upset with is valid and was not illogical. Many people are shopping with more than $200 but might wonder how much they really ought to spend.
I recently bought 2 laptops and looked at many options from $200-850+ before deciding.
In other words, not everyone only has $200 who might be here.
If they really only have $200-250 this is a fine choice for many use cases. There are usually lots of factors to consider when buying laptops.

11th gen Intel is still a very capable chip for everyday tasks. For $200 you get a well built, sleek, lightweight productivity machine. I'd buy this in a heartbeat for a parent or non-STEM student.

If you're doing a lot of multi-core work, a $100 increase would get you a 12th gen Intel refurb so do keep that option in mind.

Not bad for a general use computer. I got an AMD one with slightly better specs but needed the CAC reader built in for work which was a plus. The metal exterior feels nice but dents easier.

I just left a remote position and offered to buy my in-home system as while ancient for business, it was still perfect for non-gaming personal uses (surfing, Zoom, word processing, etc). I'm currently disabled and have no one available to disassemble the monitors or box up the only item that had sufficient value to send back and have the IT team reallocate elsewhere - an HP color laser printer. In any event, they explained they could not remotely restore the laptop by stripping off company owned software. While I thought it was doable, we agreed that I could keep everything else including the printer, docking station and 11 year old twin 24" HP E231 monitors. While past their usable life, they work fine. I was able to return the tablet and overspent by getting the Acer touch screen 16 AI ready 32gb, 1T system recently posted on SD. After hopefully recovering from major back surgery and now total knee replacement, I hope to learn the power of the computer with my wife who is also disabled. I have the desktop setup while hopefully she'll enjoy the touchscreen benefits as she too is disabled. Everything considered, the laptop offered herein seems like a still usable workhorse provided you swap out the batteries or plan on using it with monitors in a desktop setting. finally, I'm no techie just an average non-gaming user. Had this been available a few weeks ago, I would have purchased it in lieu of the lavish, future ready laptop I bought.

If you mean this one [ebay.com], then it has an older and weaker processor [cpubenchmark.net], but should be adequate for basic office work. I prefer Thinkpad keyboards to HP's, for what it's worth.

I bite the bullet on this item. The released date on this laptop shows 2021. Does it mean, this item has been used so long and now being sold as refurb? Feeling little bummed if I'm actually getting a laptop that was used for 5 years?
