Our entire garden (Zone 7B), including several 6-foot tall tomato plants, corn, cabbage, carrots, eggplant, cucumbers, various beans, broccoli, beets, zucchini, squash, watermelon, potatoes, dill, thyme, cilantro, rosemary, and all companion plants are in these exact style of raised beds filled with mushroom compost blend from a local supplier delivered by the truckload. They are anything but "too shallow".
