Not much... Once I switched to one of the top rated brands I did. Unfortunately, I believe some of the cheap brands on Amazon are fake. In fact, there is a bunch of BioAstin on ebay right now that is fake. I ordered some because it was half the price as what I typically pay. It had no exp. date or lot code and the label was washed out. I called them on it and they refunded my money. Astaxanthin is a great supplement but because it is expensive and scammers can make good money on it there is a bunch of fake garbage out there...

I started taking it because I had read that it helped people with sensitivity to the sun. I'm very light and burn pretty easily, and I spend a ton of time outdoors in the sun. Even with sunscreen, high UPF and reapplied regularly, I can burn on occasion. Since I started it, I haven't had any issues with burning.

Worked, thanks OP! Normally get the Bioastin brand from Costco which on sale runs about 20 for 60 capsules, so this was considerably less. Both are reliable brands.

Not as well reviewed as BioAstin, which is the top tier brand for this but it is still very good. Sourced from Iceland microalgae vs Hawaii. In for a couple.

I'm trying different supplements out in a kind of systematic way to see how they help over time. Sounds like you've taken a little bit of a dive on this one – are the studies pretty solid in your opinion. This guy says they're "mixed".

Never heard of it.. Apparently, Astaxanthin softgels are a dietary supplement containing a powerful natural pigment (carotenoid) sourced from microalgae. I have been using it for a while. I cannot even remember all of the places I sourced my info from. I research everything before I start using it but one thing with Astaxanthin is that many brands are junk. I had tried different one on Amazon before realizing that the brand really matters because they source it differently and what they use as a carrier oil can make a difference. The very first thing I noticed once I switched to a reputable brand (BioAstin) is that my skin looked noticeably better after about 10 days. The ashy look on my legs went away. Dry patches on my face got smaller and then just went away. I like to be tan and spend a good amount of time in the sun. After taking this regularly for some time I can not spend hours in the sun and I do not get any type of sunburn...I actually get a much darker tan too. I realize that this benefit won't mean much to many people but for me it is a big deal and worth taking for that reason alone.
