The Galaxy A16 5G bundle stands out as a low-cost backup phone with a decent camera, 5G, and a full year of Tracfone service that can extend an existing line and eventually unlock the device. The phone is described as solid for the price, with brand new looking units, eSIM support on this bundle, and broad MVNO compatibility. Setup can be finicky, though, with reports of Wi Fi issues, slow fingerprint wake, heavy Samsung bloatware, and only 4GB of RAM. A few units also arrived with activation or update problems, so it feels best suited to light use rather than a main phone.

  • People transferring an existing Tracfone line, because the included service stacks with the old balance and can extend the end date by a year.

    MadaozDoremonpoorazn

  • Light users who want a cheap secondary phone, because it feels solid and brand new while still offering years of software updates.

    SiennaHerring788cmc1002001tantip

  • Backup-phone buyers who want a basic Android with a good camera, because it takes better photos than budget Moto models and can be used on multiple MVNOs.

    jimx200mathiastorres777

  • People who need eSIM certainty before buying, because reports conflict on whether this model includes eSIM and the SIM configuration varies by unit.

    SpyrusNViwareoregon14StackDealerSpyrusNViware

  • People who need a fast everyday phone, because the 4GB RAM and low-end performance can feel slow, freeze, and struggle with apps.

    warwagonbesidfsretro123

  • Shoppers who need reliable setup and activation, because the phone can get stuck on Wi‑Fi setup, update loops, or missing plan attachment.

    AlwaysAvidNoremac0sdfoo

  • Users who rely on modern Wi‑Fi features, because the phone lacks Wi‑Fi 6 support and can drop connections on some networks.

A16 has nearly same specs. Storage may vary.

I bought one, it wouldn't apply the update and got stuck in a loop. Returned and bought another, same exact thing.

Tracfone annual plans from prior deals was set to end in September 2026. Bought this, went online, transfer old number to this device and viola service ti 2027 with the additional 1500 text, voice and data from this plan. They should have an option to convert unused voice/test or data. If not let you choose. Got like 5000 minutes that I'll never use in this backup gps phone

Unfortunately my need is to use one of my overseas pSIM to get the OTP codes and texts, while using this Tracefone service. In other words, I need the pSIM unlocked while eSIM can be locked to the TraceFone (or any other such arrier). Not sure if this is possible OR we can call Tracefone to allow this? Is unlocking one of the SIM slot is technically possible or not?

These don't have eSIM at all, just one nano SIM slot.

This won't work for you.
Any TF/TW/ST phone will have both psim and esim (if it has one) locked for a year, no way around it.

Whats the most reliable way/algorithm to extend airtime for an existing phone/plan?
Does one need BYOD SIM for old phone?
If yes, how to order BYOD SIM online?

Assume no need to unlock this A16.
