Future DJI models are effectively barred from being newly approved and sold in the U.S. under current FCC policy.

Since it's sold in USA, I'm sure it's legal. The model is also free from needing to be registered with the FAA. It's just under the 250g weight minimum that requires registration.

Prices have gone up a little it appears? Amazon sold this same model for 209.99 in April, bought it for my son.

great drone if you are interested at this price. id recommend the kits with more batteries though. one is not enough. official batteries cost more brought separately.

Good drone for a good price. However, you Will need more batteries. They drain fairly quickly. Consider the fly more kits if you are new.

I absolutely love this drone, not having to FAA reg is great and the controls and app are easy to use and intuitive. I've had it for almost a year and I've used it to take video of camp sporting events and competitions. The video stability even in wind is really impressive and for the most part you can fly it where you want it and then start video recording and it will stay there with stable video. The battery lasts around 30 mins so definitely consider a 2nd battery but it's a great drone at this price point. Never had a crash or any other issues really. I've tested it out to maybe 1500 feet but typically that requires open air like straight up (not in busy airspace) or across the water.

I would like a drone but I don't see much point. It seems like anywhere you would want to fly them you can't. Parks come to mind immediately, I want to take cool photos and videos while hiking but they are banded in most state and all federal parks. What are people actually using these for?

Reminder that, just because you don't need an FAA license, your city or town in the US may still have restrictions. For instance, in my town if I'm going to fly a drone I would have to get a single use permit which shows it's operating in an area that doesn't fall under any of the town's restrictions.
