Community Reviews
This Milwaukee 25 foot compact tape measure stands out for its sturdy feel, long standout, and handy finger brake groove, with the fractional scale adding a practical touch for quick measurements. The compact size is meant to fit easily in a tool bag or pocket, though the tape is repeatedly described as heavy and not especially compact. The blade is printed on one side only, and the tape can twist or bend when extended, especially past about 4 to 5 feet. A solid option if those tradeoffs do not matter.
Common Questions (4)
It is compact enough to fit in a tool bag, drawer, or pocket, but multiple comments say it feels larger and heavier than expected. Several compare it unfavorably to lighter tapes, so the main tradeoff is Milwaukee branding and features versus bulk.
No, the measurements are only printed on one side. That matters if you want double-sided printing for easier reading in awkward positions, but it is not a feature of this model.
It has a fractional scale, a sturdy build, a long standout, and a comfortable finger-brake groove under the base. Those features make quick measurements and one-handed control easier, especially if you like Milwaukee's tape layout.
The lock and standout can vary by unit, and the tape may twist or bend when extended, especially past about 4-5 feet. That can make longer measurements frustrating if the blade is not held very straight.

I do have a gripe about it. The standout is long, great. But as you stretch the tape out, many times, just twist the tape about 20-30 degrees from horizontal, and the tape easily twists, bends, and falls straight down, forcing to pull it back and try again. Try to measure something longer than 4-5 feet, have to measure width of a standing countertop for example, measuring it sideways a bit, and it's frustrating when it twists and falls.
One thing you'll want to look out for is, my previous Craftsman tape had this issue, the lock took some force to lock the tape in place. I tested the Milwaukee's before choosing the one to purchase. They don't all have a smooth, easy locking mechanism, some take a bit more force, all brands.
