This Ryzen 7 X3D deal is framed as a strong gaming chip for 1440p builds, with performance close to a 7800X3D and only a small gap that may not matter unless paired with a very high end GPU. The price also looks better when compared with AM5 bundle math, especially once RAM and motherboard costs are included. The main drawback is platform cost, since AM5 memory and board upgrades can erase the savings, and several comparisons point to cheaper 7800X3D bundle or coupon options. It lands as a solid gaming upgrade if the rest of the platform already fits.
1440p gamers with a very high-end GPU, because the performance loss versus a 7800X3D is small enough to be hard to notice.
Builders who want eight Zen 4 cores for a new AM5 setup, because the chip offers 8C/16T with nearly identical single-core speed to a cheaper 6-core alternative.
The CPU-only $280 price is viewed as expensive versus bundle alternatives, especially when motherboard and RAM costs are added. A 7500X3D plus motherboard bundle around $200 and 7800X3D bundle deals are cited as better total-platform values.
The 5800X3D is the better fit if you already have DDR4 and want to stay on AM4, but its current pricing around $350 is called too high. At that level, the 7700X3D's AM5 platform cost still needs to be weighed against newer bundle deals.
Probably not, because it is an AM5 CPU and needs DDR5, so existing DDR4 cannot be reused. For DDR4-based upgrades, the 5800X3D is the more relevant alternative.
Yes. It is described as a strong gaming CPU at this price, with roughly 5% less performance than a 7800X3D, which may be hard to notice unless you use a very high-end GPU.
The 7700X3D is about 5% slower than a 7800X3D in gaming, and one comparison puts it only about $19 above a prior 7800X3D add-on deal. That makes it a closer value if you want near-7800X3D performance without paying full top-tier pricing.
I thought there was some kind of new Egg Exclusive and coupon to make it $280. New Egg $349 page does come with a Free Cooler Master Elite Liquid 240 CPU AIO Cooler, limited offer which is valued at $79 lol.
I don't think we are getting supers. 5800x3d not worth it at 350.
Staples had 7800x3d on sale $348.99 this week. Sometimes you can overlap coupons if new user 10-15% on first purchase. Which makes it a steal. Other times they block it. Only problem with Staples hit & miss.
So I just tested. Currently new user coupon does work but it is $15 off. Just toss them a new e-mail address and they send it. Total was $333.99 without taxes. Works with guest checkout.
Is it more nuts than people scrambling to buy JUST the 5800x3D for $350 a couple weeks ago?
Heck no, check my post history, the hype train on that dud deal is mind blowing. AM4 was great, the 5800X3D was great, but folks need to understand pricing better. In the performance stack and pricing of bundles currently, the 5800X3D with 16GB DDR4 and motherboard should be no more than $300-350. They're soaking consumers hellbent on upgrading their AM4 builds.

I already built one of these Open Air Bench too https://www.amazon.com/Test-Bench...B0GSW5P8QNAs for AM4 parts, I need to find a decent DD4 compatible so I was looking at 5800X3D but that's $280 after discount, way too expensive. have 2x16 and 2x8 DDR4 to deploy somewhere. MicroCenter AM4 5600X bundle which is just $250 - it does come with an extra 16GB DDR4 but that CPU seems pretty slow and don't want to give that to people lol.Just seems like a bad dead after I scored the AM5 MC Bundle 7500X3D+Mobo for $199. (then it went to $250!.Looking around DDR4 further. I might have to get an Intel CPU because I see some motherboard at $80 now but not sure if I wanna get a 14th gen CPU.7700X3D for $280 vs. 7500X3D+Mobo for $200. I just can't do this deal either.Cores & Threads: 7700X3D has 8C/16T, while 7500X3D has 6C/12T.Geekbench Multi-Core: 7700X3D scores ~14,250; 7500X3D scores ~11,300.Geekbench Single-Core: Nearly identical, scoring ~2,475 and ~2,400 respectively.Power (TDP): 7700X3D draws 120W; 7500X3D is highly efficient at 65W.
The single core comparison in the same generation is a little pointless because they are the same thing on a single core.
