Most people need/prefer a depth of 30 inches.
If you plan on adding wheels to yours, be sure to account for the added height. The wheels and mounts are 5", so at the lowest desk setting, the surface will be raised higher than most chairs will put you at. I had to buy an office chair with an extended elevation and keep it at the tallest height setting. So now when I sit, my whole foot doesn't rest on the floor, so I have a footrest that helps out for maximum comfort.
The whole thing sounds ridiculous, but I love my setup and being able to roll it around the house, the back porch, the pool deck, etc.

First off, the table top has two narrow boards butted together, so you will have a seam down the middle horizontally.
Second, the unit started to malfunction after a few days, where the left side would not rise at the same pace as the right side. There was a way to "reset" it so it would be correct, but after a day it started to do it again. Many reviews do say the mechanism does not last long.
Fortunately, we were able to send this back for a full refund. It was not worth the hassle.
I noticed that most of the standing desks in this price range from multiple brands have the same leg system, so we decided to get a regular desk and get one with a full one piece top.
