Great game. Alan Wake 2, though, is an all-timer. Nothing short of incredible.

2 was good but way too much time spent in menus, ui, double back.
I enjoy some puzzles but how obtuse some were was just annoying.
I paid $15 for aw2 and that is the most I will ever pay for another remedy game. They are solid 6/10s. Story and graphics are great. actual gameplay kinda hold it back for me.
maybe bad memory but felt like I enjoyed Alan wake 1 and control more

I've beaten Alan Wake once on Xbox 360, and Remastered on PC. I enjoyed both playthroughs quite a bit. It's interesting coming across the driving sequences, because you can see where they intended the game to be a big open world with driving to and from locations, but at one point in the development cycle decided to nearly scrap all of it and turn it into a linear game. Some of the driving survived, but only in a linear format. I believe they retained it to stir up the gameplay, but also give the sense that the world was large, and that it was a real place, not just a series of curated stages.

You have elements of that in Alan Wake 2, but without the driving. Just a load screen in between locations. I really enjoyed AW2. Just be aware, it's a more horror-forward, RE4 inspired game that requires a bit more resource management and stealth.
