My Tanked water heater is 15 years old, working fine...but has never had any maintenance done.
Downloaded the PDF manual before I got it, and it looks easy enough to install myself.
Google says tanked water heaters last 8 - 12 years and tankless last up to 20 years.

This is Wednesday (Yesterday (Tuesday) I had a great motorcycle ride, got rained on and everything_}
So this morning my moisture detector under my water heater tank went off, notifying the app on my phone.
My water heater sprung a pretty significant leak.
(Yes, moisture detectors really work! I recommend them highly. Also detected a minor leak in the faucet feeding the washing machine.)
So, I spent my day getting estimates for installation of this water heater.
(I did want to do it myself, but my wife wants it done and done right, and done fast...go figure.)
So, $2,400 some odd for installation and $600 some odd for this water heater (Thanks again OP) for a total of about $3,100.
I swear I didn't touch the existing water heater!
I didn't have to switch out any gas lines since my home has a gas furnace using the same intake and our Bradford White tank gas heater was in the same utility cabinet.granted our home was built in 2012 so maybe thats why didn't have to mess with the lines
The only really downside is that it was mounted on an interior wall so when you turn on the hot water at your faucet you hear a faint rumble from the laundry where this was installed. Idk if it was the installation or the unit itself but the only minor annoyance so far
I too changed a tank type about 4 or 5 years ago. Except for the weight, it was really easy.
