they work pretty good, I bought three of them when my basement flooded, I was pleasantly surprised and how well they did on 24/7.

They came with a $25 gift card promise if you leave a positive review and send them proof. I never got mine (it was limit 1 anyway) so YMMV on that.

I think I paid $169 each.
The fact that they offer to pay for positive reviews is enough to turn me away. Thanks for letting us know.

Welp. Guess this is gonna be their last hoorah... Offering money for reviews is not only against ToS but I think federal law... And then the insult to injury of not even giving you the gift card. For shameeew

Costco is 50pint with pump too for $150-175.

If you have membership, better. Dehumidifier quality is iffy, some stop working for whatever reason

for $88... eh
mine have been running great for what I needed them for. No idea what kind of long term longevity they have, but I was in a pinch.

Little unrelated - I have two bad dehumidifier lying around, may be due to gas leak. Hate to throw them for landfill, anyways to get them repaired? It seems dehumidifier gas needs commercial license to handle them.

It will cost more to repair than it's worth. and then something else will fail quickly after.

Unfortunately, these cheap dehumidifiers are disposable and not designed to be refilled. There are no service ports on them.

Try to sell it for scrap or give it away on craigslist or freecycle (as scrap).

These cheap Chinese generic dehumidifiers are such a scam, i regret buying one just to save money. So I didn't buy this exact model but a similarly looking and priced one, and the control board started breaking down due to the humidity until it finally stopped working. Once the physical controls stops working on these models they become useless. The generic seller I bought from literally dissapreared from the marketplace so there was no way to contact them (warranty was probably past anyways). Such crummy business tactics, quickly offload your crappy products to idiots like me and then bounce.

V5YKGEDF still seems to work. Sometimes it can take a couple of tries for Amazon to apply codes.

You are right.

However, to play fairly, and to protect yourself, get an extended warranty. On this model, it's $23 for 3 years; $30 for 4. You get a dehumidifier for less than $8 a year this way and no need to try to trackdown a long-gone random-alphabet-letter-named seller.

These dehumidifiers are not repairable and are considered disposable, so the Amazon warranty company will likely refund your purchase price (less tax). Rinse and repeat for the next dehumidifier.

The warranty stays in your amazon order history, so you don't have to worry about losing paperwork.

They usually use cheap boards (as you noted) and cheap aluminum heat exchangers that will corrode and leak, especially if you use any sort of chlorine-containing cleaners (like household bleach) around them. The compressors are not designed to last more than 3-5 years at most.

You can sell, donate, or give them away for scrap. Where I live, if the refrigerant is out of of them, they can be put in the weekly trash which is burned at the waste-to-energy facility. Electricity is generated and the metals are recovered and recycled.

I had this dehumidifier and it never dropped the humidity level below 65% in a 10x12 room. This is fine for a bathroom, but anything over that and it will not make a dent.

21 PPD (Pints per Day)??? That's a toy dehumidifier!

I'm done buying these noisy, cheap dehumidifiers. I bought commercial types for our two homes. I'd never go back. Here is the description of the commercial type I purchased several years ago: "ALORAIR Crawl Space Dehumidifiers, 120 PPD Energy Star Wi-Fi APP Controls Auto Defrost Basement Commercial Dehumidifiers." It's currently no longer available on Amazon, but there are other sellers / brand names with the exact same design. Ours still work great and keep the humidity level very steady in our basements. Note: I don't use the WiFi feature. I run the drain hose to a sink or sump pump basin. Expect to pay about $500 for a commercial, high PPD unit. Well worth it IMO.
