Costco travel gets deals? I thought that booking through costco travel already gave you their "deal"
Costco Travel runs random promos. For instance, on cruises, you always get a % back in a gift card, but during random deals they'll give you a bonus $100-$300 gift card on top of that. Look at their deals section on Travel and they'll expire and new ones will come out.

Premier Protein Baby! I'm going to be rolling out of there with a crate, woot! I live off these things, 3x per day. Unlike pure whey, these keep you full feeling much much longer.
Hope you got in on the Walmart/Amazon deals a few weeks ago! 12 pack for $8!

Costco loyalty rivals Apple. If both stores have the same items I much prefer Sam's Club as I'm not treated like a fellow and having to show or scan my membership and God forbid my wife goes before me and I get the cart. The scan and go check out alone and never even having to show my receipt puts Sam's light years ahead of Costco.
Great analogy. I currently have both memberships, but will let my Costco lapse when it's up for renewal. I just don't see the hype with Costco. The checkout lines at Costco during the holidays are enough to choose Sam's because of the scan-n-go app.

I did, but I can stock up again as I go through them quick at 3x per day. The only downside is that Walmart deal exposed me to a whole bunch of awesome flavors that Costco doesn't carry. My favorite being banana, but I'm not going to pay full price to get banana over vanilla or strawberry.

BTW, avoid carmel, its the only flavor I've tried where I really have to choke it down, yech!

The whole reason is loss prevention.

"Changing consumer habbits" have lots of stores either closing down locations or locking everything up requiring a lot of staff to come by and unlock it for people. By being an "exclusive club" they can identify the individuals at entry and not let them leave with any product and can demand to see a receipt because unlike a normal store they are a private club and so different laws apply and they can stop you and trespass you.

We never had this issue in the 90s, but alas we have apparently "advanced" as a society and even decriminalized theft under $1K in some places. Oof.

Costco is more ethically ran in terms of employment and consumer protections and benefits. Sure, Sam's club has more convenience like checking out. Oh nooo we have to wait a few minutes longer at costco lol

In hypotheticals if one them cease to exist I trust costco would not egregiously start nickel and diming everyone because ultimately they're not part of walmart like sams is.

Walmart/sams isn't going anywhere. If anything, it tends to perform even better during recessions. That said, technology is a separate issue. Costco has been slow to invest in modernizing its digital experience. The website feels outdated, shipping options lag behind competitors, and the overall in-store experience has been declining in many locations. Investing more in technology and improving store operations would go a lot further than checking IDs at the entrance as if customers are entering an FBI-secured facility
Hence hypotheticals. I don't disagree with costco being behind the times. My point is that more than enough people vote with their wallets to the company that treats their employees and customers better sans the slower experiences that are subjective when it comes to individual tolerances.

In terms of recessions costco has the better track records protecting their employees from the fallouts.

I am admittedly a Costco cultist but I also have a membership to Sam's club. I finally got the courage to use Sam's scan and go app feature (not sure why i was apprehensive)....and its scary how good/amazing that feature alone is...definitely takes a huge chunk of the costco lead away but costco is still quite ahead.
