I had a handful of 8BitDo Ultimate controllers as it was my go-to. I had a couple for PC/Docked Steam Deck, a couple for Switch (some Ultimate and some ultimate 2C) and once I grabbed on of these and used it for even 10 minutes, I was sold and started replacing all my Ultimates with these Super Novas
Like I said, everyone has different tastes but I was all in on the 8BitDo Ultimate controller and immediately switched once i tried one of these.

I have a Nova Lite and a Super Nova and the Lite feels like a cheap toy in comparison, it also is missing a lot of features as I mentioned. Still a solid controller but at this price the Super Nova is a no brainer over the Lite. If you're using it for Switch, just know that the Lite and the Lite 2 both do not have 6-axis gyro
I have never used a Lite 2 but it looks like it has a few of the features as the Super Nova but the Super still beats it out by quite a bit: Larger battery, 6-axis, swappable faceplates, swappable button layout, better build quality, lower price (if the Nova 2 is full price and you're buying the Super Nova at this sale price)

But the button layout is swappable, so you can do it how you like.

The GameSir software is also easier to use than the 8BitDo Ultimate software. I couldn't figure out how to properly program macros on the 8BitDo. Meanwhile, it was a breeze on GameSir.
The 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless supports Steam Input on SteamOS though so that's what I use on my docked Steam Deck.
For travel, I use a $15-20 GameSir Nova Lite. The included plastic hardshell case is super convenient for just dumping in the backpack. The case also works with the Super Nova but it was a very tight fit.

I have been using my Super Nova on my docked steam deck for a while now without any issues. If you put it in DS4 mode, it supports Steam Input, including gyro aiming and all that. In DS4 mode, I don't think it supports mapping the back buttons to any command though, just other controller buttons. This doesn't bother me though cause, like i said, I always just map my back buttons to L3 and R3 cause I hate trying to press them while also tilting the sticks 😂
