Since Texas Instruments has essentially what is a monopoly on calculators for schools, I do think it is absolutely silly to buy one of these new. Used marketplaces are flooded with every model of these calculators with most in great condition. Yes, things will always be cheaper used, but unlike most things there is a seemingly endless supply of them used and there is no real benefit buying new.

Yes, but even used ones go for $60+ and the python version often for $70. $90 is a good deal here compared to normal prices. In general, it is outrageous that they ask this much when you compare what goes into these versus phones, game consoles, tablets, and other electronics.

Because it's a racket. Schools require Ti-83's so there's still a market for it.

Don't buy one until your kids ask for it. Nowadays, kids prefer desmos anyway.

Order with caution. I got a better deal a week or two ago on this and they gave me the less expensive non python version. Pay attention that you get the correct model.

I did the same. Turns out they didn't have the python version in store, but they were advertising it as such. Even the display tag said python. I wonder if they even have the python version anywhere now.
