This ASUS ROG G700 is a high end 9800X3D and RX 9070 XT prebuilt that stands out for strong gaming performance and unusually good value at $1799.99. The 32GB DDR5, 2TB SSD, 850W Gold power supply, 240mm liquid cooler, and included keyboard and mouse make it feel well rounded, and the price is repeatedly framed as better than building similar parts yourself. The main caveat is that the open box route carries warranty and repair risk, and the 9070 XT still trails a GeForce 5080 in absolute performance. A solid all in one option if you want top tier parts without piecing it together.

Common Questions (5)

  • Yes. The current price is described as the lowest seen for this exact configuration, with one comparison noting the prior low was $1730 with half the storage. It is also framed as strong value in the current PC market, especially if you need a 9800X3D/9070 XT system soon.

  • The RTX 5080 is stronger overall, but the RX 9070 XT can get close in rasterized performance when undervolted and pushed hard. Without upscaling, it is described as roughly 20-30% faster than the comparison being discussed, while costing far less than a 5080.

  • The listed configuration includes an 850W 80+ Gold PSU, a quad-fan system, and a 240mm AIO liquid cooler. One comment notes the exact PSU model is unclear, but the included power and cooling are still considered sufficient for this rig.

  • Yes. The system has 4 RAM slots and supports up to 64GB, so the included 32GB DDR5-5600 can be expanded later. The current 32GB is also viewed as a useful hedge against ongoing RAM shortages.

  • Open-box units can be risky because any problem may require shipping the PC to ASUS at your own expense, with possible diagnostics and repair charges despite warranty coverage. That makes the savings less attractive unless you are comfortable handling a potential repair process.

I see an Open Box one 4 hours from where I live. I could do the drive, but I read from reviews and threads on other sites that if anything's wrong with the PC, I have to ship it to ASUS out of my own pocket, ASUS charges a diagnostics fee, and then charges for the repairs, despite the warranty. Not sure if worth the risk and the drive.

If you undervolt and push a ton of power through the 9070xt it can kinda get within spitting distance of the 5080 in rasterized performance. Ultimately the 5080 is the stronger card, by every metric. But I got my 9070xt last month for $630, and the cheapest 5080s out there are nearly twice the price. I can't even justify paying >$800 for a 5700ti for my own use case.
I got a Tuf 9700xt... Any tips on undervolting? Mine is always unstable and crashes and resets to default...

Agreed. A good graphics card being the same price as a very good quality mid range laptop is predatory.

If I were in the market for the best bang/buck prebuilt out there in the current market, this would be it.
Close. This one plus adding your own 9070XT is the biggest bang for your buck right now. Granted it's going to cost $2250 or $2350, but you get faster ram and 64GB of DDR5 6000 instead of 32GB of DDR5 5400, you do have to put your graphics card in your self, you get a 1000w power supply, and it's technically Micro Center's house brand. That said, every piece of hardware is brand name. ASUS mobo, ASRock power supply, the ram and everything else. Nothing is a no name brand. Craziest part, if we built this ourselves it would cost $3500.00. 😳

Get this:
https://www.microcenter.com/produ...UxMDUyMzg0

And add an AMD 9070XT graphics card PLUS get Microcenter's 2 year warranty for $199.

No RMA bullshit, you get a much greater bang for your buck on parts, and you can bring the computer in for professional cleaning, etc.

That's fine. NVidia isn't the end all be all especially when you factor in value/cost. You're going to pay double for an NVidia card that performs as well as the 9070xt. I have more self respect than that.

Google "undervolting asus tuf 9700xt" and you'll find enough resources from tips, to step-by-step, to user experiences.

While you consider that route seeking stability, what's your power supply make/model? You can run a 9700XT on a 750W but not all power supplies are created equal so making sure you have a good quality PS that's rock solid stable during the highest power draws is critical. I'd also look at drivers (making sure it was installed only after stripping all drivers and registry entries (DDU is good for this). And I'd look at other software that might interact with the card and/or video drivers. Tools like MSI Afterburner, etc. Strip those away as part of the troubleshooting. It is, of course, entirely possible you have a poorly manufactured card (poor heatsink applications leaving destabilizing temps in their wake - GPU or Memory) or an underlying hardware fault on the board.

Thank you for the suggestion. I ended up reserving both, this deal and your suggestion. Yours had an open box deal for $1440. I added MC protection plan to both deals and a 9070xt to yours. Just gotta decide which one to keep.

It's an excellent deal no doubt, but I'm having issues deciding if paying the extra $280 difference between the two is worth it. The ram is 6000 vs 5400 plus I get extra 32gb of ram, extra 150w of power, an integrated graphics card and better mobo. But in the end, I'm wondering if all these improvements are negligible for gaming or if they are worth the extra $280. I guess if anything I can sell the RAM and get the upgrades for free.

COMPLETELY understandable! We figured investing in the extra RAM while the going for such is "cheap" in the scheme of things, will help the computer to be relevant and useful longer. And it appears this RAM shortage is going to stick around for the next 2 - 5 years. Two at best, five at worst. It's such a volatile market for it as everyone is racing to figure it all out now in actual day to day. I seriously believe it's going to calm down, but I also believe it's not something that is going away, meaning AI, anytime soon and will become a part of the new normal.

And the best part about reserving it all in store, you can chat with the employees for their recommendations too. I am curious to know which manufacturer of RAM ASUS installed in their pre-built along with who is making the liquid cooler. The Microcenter one is Cooler Master.

That is also awesome on the open box deal! I saw an open box while pulling the examples earlier and that is a great savings. We ourselves buy open box often on many things from Microcenter, Best Buy, Amazon, etc. Such great savings to take advantage of especially these days more than ever.

Good luck with your decision and let me know which you decide! I will help answer any questions you have too if I can. Or find the answer if I cannot.
