I already tried contacting customer support multiple times, but it was no use. I even filed an FCC complaint, and I'm still not getting a positive response.
They're saying that since my replacement phone was activated in 2026, it has to follow the new 2026 unlock policy. But that doesn't make sense because I bought my original phone in March 2025, before the new policy even existed. I only got the replacement in February 2026 because I filed a warranty claim after my original phone had a hardware issue.
My original phone was unlocked within two months, and I used it overseas without any problems. Now they're treating the warranty replacement like it's a brand-new purchase instead of a replacement for the phone I originally bought. I don't think it's fair to apply a new policy to a device that was replaced under warranty.
I'm on your side, I agree with you. You're being penalized for something you should not be. Not your problem, the replacement phone should have been unlocked from the get go. I'd also file a BBB report. They're actually costing you money because they are forcing you to be locked into Tracfone for another year by doing that. If they can't issue you an unlocked phone, they should refund you in full for what you paid for the phone originally IMO.

So, what if they send 1 text every month, is that active enough?
You don't have to use the phone, . Active simply means the sim is in use/pinging, you can call the phone too and not answer just to make sure it is active.

I wonder if Amz A16 deal will come back for $40

Meh. 2 year phone for $50. The "plan" is the typical 1.5GB for the entire year plan - that's like emergency use only and google maps.

I'd rather pay a bit more for a better phone or more useful plan.

two year? unlocks in one. as for the rest, not meant to be your everyday phone and no one should buy it for that..

use it on wifi, call all the people you want and no data issues. good for keeping a landline # and use it as your landline on WIFI phone.

I have one of these from the last time they were on sale. It works great so far. I don't like spending much time on the phone so the year long plans with minutes added are great for me. That's not to say you can't have a long chat, but these plans are for people who budget their minutes and don't talk more than 4-5 minutes daily or use their talk time in batches for keeping up with family every once in a while. The side fingerprint scanner was a new feature for me since I've used moto g before. It can be awkward that by picking up your phone you can unintentionally unlock it. The apps are smooth, and the storage is more than enough for my needs.

I would also like to mention the update process is a bit tedious with android. Instead of updating to the latest it slowly updates from older versions to finally reaching the latest so you'll be resetting the phone a lot. Oh and the battery came with a 0% charge from the warehouse so apparently these have been sitting a while. Once it was charged though it was no big deal and the battery wasn't damaged in any way. Personally I charged it fully once I unboxed since that's what was recommended online. The battery didn't seem to be damaged in any way after a full charge (like faster depletion). I went ahead and turned on overcharge protection to ensure it extends battery life.

I'm using a 2021 Moto G stylus 5g right now (very broke), but i don't use a phone much except basically text, browsing the Internet & playing fire emblem heroes. Would this phone be an upgrade at all?

My time expires in June 2027, but I read they won't have the flip phone deals on eBay during November anymore, so I may need the time this provides, too, if I don't find a better deal. If i pass, hoping to find a better deal, I may be stuck having to pay full price if it gets to May 2027 & I haven't found anything worthwhile.

I occasionally buy the 1000 texts for $5, but use reward points for that when I have them (much harder now, since reward points are so limited except referrals). I have tons of minutes saved from these plans' carryover, so if i need to call I can. Otherwise, i just need a device that allows me to play the game (FEH. I have a Pixel 6a, but the screen is to small for me to read anything on that game, the skill descriptions etc are tiny, so i need a phone with a bigger, screen). Worst case, i guess i could activate the pixel to use & just use this new phone to play the game on at home...🤔

Do u have an opinion on whether this would be an upgrade in my situation? Thanks for taking the time to reply to all these messages. I could do more research myself, but I may miss the deal, since they seem very limited.

I made two separate orders of the Moto G Power 2024 last time this deal came around on May 1
https://slickdeals.net/f/19490223-motorola-moto-g-power-2024-5g-128gb-black-includes-1-year-125-service-plan-49-88
Both phones arrived with pretty much dead batteries so I returned them. (Did anyone else have this issue?)
So I'm concerned that the 2024 phones are discharging in the warehouse slowly and they know this so they're dumping them.
If this deal is indeed for the 2025 model I might take another chance: can anyone confirm this either way?

they do have these comparison sites online where it will show you head to head one phone vs the other. Just google " moto g power 2024 vs moto g stylus 2021" and you can compare various specs.

That said, other than the stylus, the 2024 s/b at least as good and likely better. I'm not sure what version android you are running but the 2024 (or 2025) will run a more updated Android version, likely 14. Thinking your phone stopped getting updates 2 or 3 years ago from Motorola.

If you read the comments on this Walmart phone sorted by most recent you find that no one states their phone is a 2025 model and that they all note that their phone's access to updates ends in March of 2027 - thus a 2024 model. However, the 2024 model comes with a bit better processor and GPU but the 2025 Power G has a slightly larger screen so is a little heavier and is reinforced with Gorilla glass and better waterproofing.

There's some contradicting messages in here, someone is saying you CANT leave it ina drawer for a year and wait for it to unlock, but I'm not so sure. So I'll ask plainly...

Can we buy this, activate , stick in drawer and then it unlocks without having to give them more money?

I think by saying "a 2-year phone", he's making fun of Motorola/Lenovo's short support period

You can activate it, stick it in a drawer for a year. However, don't plan on using the sim to the phone on a different phone during that year. and it probably isn't a bad idea to turn it on every so often, keep the battery with some juice in it.
Sure others may have some thoughts on this as far as what constitutes service for a year.
