they do have these comparison sites online where it will show you head to head one phone vs the other. Just google " moto g power 2024 vs moto g stylus 2021" and you can compare various specs.

That said, other than the stylus, the 2024 s/b at least as good and likely better. I'm not sure what version android you are running but the 2024 (or 2025) will run a more updated Android version, likely 14. Thinking your phone stopped getting updates 2 or 3 years ago from Motorola.
Sweet,, thanks so much. Yes, the stylus 5g is Android 12. The Pixel 6a is on 17 so i definitely notice the difference when playing around with that phone.

Just an FYI, it seems most of the sites that appear on the 1st page of Bing results (tried 5 or 6 different sites) don't show a 2021 Moto G stylus 5G, but the one that does only had a 128GB version w 4GB RAM. I thought maybe mine could be a 2022, so tried that, but none of the options have the 6GB RAM or 256GB storage like mine, so I don't think I could get an accurate comparison there. I still may go ahead & try it, tho.

It is a very good price. But nowadays, you can easily use 1.5GB in a month. Since the phone is locked, you can't even load 3rd party eSIM. So you will be without data for the rest of the 11 months. I think it is the trap they set you up because you will forced to buy data from Tracfone.

If you buy a bucket of MREs designed for the zombiepocalypse, but eat them every day, why would you expect there to be any left when the zombies come?

That's a great deal. If you're one of the millions of people who are addicted to your cellphone, and can't eat, sleep, walk, talk or function without a phone in your hand, and have to have the absolute latest of everything, this isn't for you.

Please clarify which device you are trying to unlock?

Either way, I believe a phone has to be on active Tracfone service for one year for it to unlock. Can't stick this one in a drawer til 2027 and think it will unlock next summer.
Actually you need to activate the plan using this phone because its tied to the IMEI. After activating you can immediately transfer the phone service to another phone, and this Moto G Power will still unlock 1 year later. Again the plan is attached and activated using this IMEI. ONLY this IMEI will get credit toward having service, any phone you transfer the service to will got no credit toward unlock time.

Can I buy this now, wait 11 months and activate and port in a number from xfinity expiring free line? I don't expect the phone to be unlocked until another year after that point but just want to keep the phone number alive as cheap as possible while still getting txt/call for it
If you have 11 months, why not wait for a better deal?
Because last year I bought Moto G Power 2023 with only 64GB for $49.99 at this link:
https://slickdeals.net/f/18908137-50-tracfone-motorola-moto-g-power-2023-5g-1500min-1500txt-1500mb-365-days

Now you can get G Power 2024 with 128GB for $49.99.
Next year you probably can get Power 2025 for the similar price, or some other better models.
Older phones usually drop in price when newer one released.

Since most people primarily use these as a wifi phone, if you are actually going to use the service, why bother using it on another phone and sticking the one you got in a drawer from WMT? Not really gaining anything that I can tell. Unless you just want to sell the phone as 'new, open box' down the road.

The glance app is the only thing that makes this phone unusable.

Even if you uninstall or disable it, it will come back and put ads on your lockscreen.

The glance app is literal malware.

It's fun to count 365 days to unlock the phone, isn't it?

There's some contradicting messages in here, someone is saying you CANT leave it ina drawer for a year and wait for it to unlock, but I'm not so sure. So I'll ask plainly...

Can we buy this, activate , stick in drawer and then it unlocks without having to give them more money?
I think you will get emails from Tracfone about once every 3 months reminding you to use your plan, otherwise they can cancel it. I think you need to use it at least once every 6 months if I'm not mistaken. Just set a reminder to send a text message or call a random 1-800 number once every month.

This is a great backup phone. Or for someone who lives in Canada and needs a U.S. number. Or for a senior citizen who only uses Messanger / Whatsapp and occasionally needs to make a phone call, and never uses data outside of wifi. Some people say they leave it in the glove box of their car for the times when you forget your phone at home and don't want to turn back and drive home.
