yes, see other discussion in the thread regarding 'real world' use of phone after updates run out. If you are a major techie, likely more of an issue that to the everyday basic use of a smartphone. (making calls, checking email, opening apps like FB and Door Dash)
i have this phone, from the thanksgiving sale of 2024 when it was sold for $35. Wanted everyone to know it will get no OS updates(last update was in Jan 25), only security updates for three years from the day the phone was released.

if a 2024 Motorola phone supposedly gets 3 years of updates, why would your last update end at Jan 25? Doesn't sound right at all.

Better than the QVC option and I only need one phone. Got the last one at my local WM (assuming their stock isn't wrong). I just had my beater Samsung A50 pop it's battery, and my only backup for that is an LG from 2019. Plus I get a(nother) burner text number for a year.

OS update vs security updates. 1 OS update (which apparently happened jan 2025), but still gets 3 years of security updates (ends March 2027, from my understanding).

I've used my stylus 5g for years without either & as long as u aren't downloading stuff going to sites u shouldn't, it will be fine. If u must, buy a different device than u use for your banking, etc to use for that stuff (like, buy 2 of this phone & use 1 for nonsense).

Oh and the battery came with a 0% charge from the warehouse so apparently these have been sitting a while. Once it was charged though it was no big deal and the battery wasn't damaged in any way. Personally I charged it fully once I unboxed since that's what was recommended online. The battery didn't seem to be damaged in any way after a full charge (like faster depletion). I went ahead and turned on overcharge protection to ensure it extends battery life.
Just received mine. Same zero % battery - it's on the charger now before I do anything more with it.

I made two separate orders of the Moto G Power 2024 last time this deal came around on May 1
https://slickdeals.net/f/19490223-motorola-moto-g-power-2024-5g-128gb-black-includes-1-year-125-service-plan-49-88
Both phones arrived with pretty much dead batteries so I returned them. (Did anyone else have this issue?)
So I'm concerned that the 2024 phones are discharging in the warehouse slowly and they know this so they're dumping them.
If this deal is indeed for the 2025 model I might take another chance: can anyone confirm this either way?
Just got mine today. Totally dead battery. Charging now with fingers crossed.....

This is a great backup phone. Or for someone who lives in Canada and needs a U.S. number. Or for a senior citizen who only uses Messanger / Whatsapp and occasionally needs to make a phone call, and never uses data outside of wifi. Some people say they leave it in the glove box of their car for the times when you forget your phone at home and don't want to turn back and drive home.
I would turn back and drive home. For one, none of the apps would be up-to-date. And if you are not the one who already signed in to the phone, you will need to move mountain to prove you are who you are without your phone. And then, apps like WhatsApp also won't won't have your chat history, even worse is it will force you to sign off on the original phone.

When I tried to get another TF unlocked a while back, I was told by TF unlock dept. that the phone had to have one year of PAID minutes, not the "free" minutes that comes with a HSN or QVC phone to be eligible for unlock. YMMV, and I'm not sure if that's the current policy. A call to TF unlock dept. will be the answer. No doubt other people here might know more than I do and will chime in.

Most people like myself, got their QVC phones unlocked automatically. I have 2 unlocked phones now, a Moto G 5G and an A15, both from the QVC supplied plans.

However, it hasn't been a year yet since the new policy. Everyone is just speculating, and no one knows what the new (1 year) policy will bring.

I can tell you from past experience, that isn't true, it's PAID service not minutes and the bundle counts, all my TF phones were unlocked after 60 days, including one I just got in Nov 25. Now it is one year.

You'd be surprised how people on SD know the policies and info better than the TF customer service people.
