You can still get a refund/replacement for products like this, if it say explodes in the shipping box and leaks everywhere.

I just inherited a very expensive dining table, it's real wood and heavy. Would this product help protect it? I don't want to put on a table cloth and cover the beautify grain of wood.

Yes, that's what this type of finish is made for. You can also take a more natural approach (much more work, however) and use a penetrating oil (e.g., Tung oil), or an oil/wax combo. The oil will penetrates the wood & really enhances the grain while providing protection from moisture (protection—not waterproof levels the way a poly finish will). Adding wax fills any pores the Tung oil didn't & will add an extra layer of protection—it also looks and feels quite nice in my opinion. Natural finishes will still ket you feel the actual wood which some people (myself included) prefer, but they don't protect against dents and dings like polyurethane will (because it's essentially a hard protective plastic cover). There's no "right" way, just whatever's right for your situation... although I'd be lying if I said it doesn't make me sad to see beautiful hardwoods coated in millimeters of polyurethane. 😭
