I've bought a cheap 55" 4K Hisense I got for the 2018 World Cup... And have been using it as my daily since. Only issue is it can get a little slow with the tons of apps I've installed, but other than that no issues whatsoever

Ooof. 1 year is pretty rough. I had a tcl that stopped working after the power supply board got fried.

Fortunately, I had an extended warranty (squaretrade/all state) and they reimbursed me for the TV (after I declined the offered replacements for not having the same features).

I also have a mini-led hisense going strong for a year now without any issues.

I've read a bunch of user reviews for a highly rated Samsung oled model had a bunch power supply failures relatively quickly. In other words, these tvs, no matter the price range, can have issues.

I'm typically not a buyer of extended warranties, but for tvs, I like to go with costco since they often include the extended warranties to cover you for at least 5 years total.

About 10 years ago when I bought a single family home, I ordered from Bestbuy a cheapo 50 inch 4K Smart HDTV from Hisense for $330.00 which was pretty cheap. It was before Roku became famous much before Google TV/Fire TV and hence comes with its own proprietary app store that in the remote had Prime, Youtube, Netflix and Vudu.
We primarily use it for Prime videos and movies now. Youtube I do not have premium, and hence inundated with too many ads when watching that I fall back to my chromebook with Adblock enabled chrome connected to the same TV.
4 HDMI 2.0 ports one of it ARC enabled connecting to speakers on the ceiling.
10 years with not a single problem, picture quality still as good as new at 60% brightness, sound at 13-15/40 to be loud enough.
If you want to complain I can say that over the air antenna scanning has gone a little bad compared to old though I do not use on air TV for anything but say Superbowl and most recently the FIFA World cup. I do get in between bad reception using the in built antenna. Then the last System update was like 5 or so years back.
Mean while my TCL Roku 55 4K ROKU which i got for $399 went caput within 3 months and since I had a 4 year BBY plan they refunded me the full price of the TV in the form of a Gift card which I used it to purchase an Insignia 55# 4K Roku during the Memorial day sale for $349.99 and it is the basement TV mainly used by my son for Gaming in his XBX. It has lost the functionality of 1 HDMI port.

For a Chinese brand that is a butt of jokes, Hisense has served me very well. But the most spoken TCL has been a dud.

Sony recently began a joint venture with TCL for their TV business. Have to wonder what that will mean in the long run.

The 2026 models are the last ones designed and built by SONY directly. Beginning with the 2027 model year, Sony will still design it, but TCL will handle the manufacturing and logistics of the TV units.

Amazon sells relatively cheap aftermarket stands some of which are center mount. Of course it hurts the deal but just in case you didn't know!
