Just got this email from Samsung ahead of their Galaxy Z Fold8 unveiling tomorrow. Looks like they're getting a piece of the Apple pie with credit card of their own! Yes, I know they already have Samsung Money by SoFi too before the Apple Card was even thought of, but this is an actual credit card for Samsung ecosystem enthusiasts! It's a black metal Visa card with the Samsung logo on it backed by Barclays.

Key Features:
  • No annual fee
  • 5% cash rewards on eligible purchases made directly with Samsung
  • 3% cash rewards on purchases made with Samsung Wallet
  • 2% cash rewards on streaming services, like Netflix, Disney+, and Spotify
  • 1% cash rewards on all other purchases
  • 20% off Samsung VIP Advantage, plus earn 5% cash rewards when purchasing or renewing a Samsung VIP Advantage membership. Terms apply
  • $200 signup bonus if you spend $2000 (looking at you Fold7 prices last year and probably the Fold8 too) within 90 days
Reminder that if you don't already have VIP advantage (my membership literally cancelled yesterday since I opted not to renew), you can get 2-years of Samsung Care+ (normally $259) for 5% cheaper now! This applies to existing members too!

Also, this could be a very strong wholesale warehouse, Target, etc. card with 3% no matter what if you use Samsung Wallet (formerly Samsung Pay) and don't already have those credit cards. Basically, anywhere that supports tap-to-pay (and doesn't fit into nice 4%-6% categories that are cards would be better for) would be fair game!

This is a pure cashback card, not a lifestyle card with bells-and-whistles like a travel portal, concierge services, transferable reward points, higher than 1.00 valuations, etc. At least that's what it seems like since there's not much more information outside of the press release. However, if you frequently or even occasionally Samsung products throughout the year, and want to whether the storm of recent their nonsense prices even just a little bit (e.g. this upcoming Fold8), this may be the card for you.

It's available a day earlier for "loyal Samsung fans" (whatever that means) right now and generally available starting tomorrow, July 22, 2026. The email link might be unique since it has you sign into your Samsung account before you can even see the application, so I will not share that. However, I will update the Newsroom link to the signup page once it goes live.

Barclays . If it is like my GM card, it's really not the best card out there. I took the intro offer, paid it off, then 'retired' it to a few transactions a year.

as a new RH Gold Card holder, sadly after the 3% FTF nerf, why would I want this card? as a backup to the 3% I get there in case it's nerfed? Seems like there are fewer places I could use samsung wallet then anywhere like the RH card? Would be awesome if it were 4% on mobile wallet purchases, that would be interesting.

This APR is INSANE! It is downright LOANSHARKING!

23.49%
to 32.24%, based on your creditworthiness and other factors.
This APR will vary with the market based on the Prime Rate.

This will give me 5% (compared to 3% from my RH Gold card), but that's only $20 difference if I spend $1000 which is what I would spend from samsung.com at most in a year. $20 isn't worth maintaining an additional card. I am not gonna even start mentioning anything about it being Barclay.

That's...true for almost all credit cards?

BTW you can tell by the perks who their target market is. It's people earning 100K plus, balance paid in full every month, no interest ever paid.
For them, the rate could be 100% since they'll never pay interest.

Cards which offer low APR ( think Credit Unions), don't give cashback. It's a tradeoff.

Is that serious? The average APR today is 11-15% unless your credit is score is below 500. Charging 23-32% is INSANE! I don't care what BS "PERKS" you are given. You miss one payment (Even by mistake) the perks mean NOTHING.

Agreed 23% is what I've typically seen on cards from big banks

If you're paying interest on credit cards this is not the game for you.
