MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) and PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) are the two main types of solar charge controllers, differing primarily in efficiency, cost, and panel compatibility. MPPT controllers are more advanced, yielding 20% to 30% more power by converting excess voltage into usable amperage. PWM controllers are cheaper but work essentially like a switch, dragging the panel voltage down to match the battery.

Got a link to a 30A BT MPPT controller for fiddy bucks?

This may be good (enough) if you have excess solar capacity, say a 200W panel feeding a battery to run a barn light or some such. Not good to maximize photon harvest.

Victron are the best, but not cheap.

Agreed. Victron is the brand one wants... but I haven't seen a deal from then in ages...
I'm kicking myself for not buying last time around...

You will have to look on the used market for something like that.

personally i'm a fan of these which are $10 basically shipped all day long: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/32...11077.html
30A, pwm. cheap, simple, no bluetooth and wifi, lots of voltage settings for battery types, easy for automation (set defaults and go)

I get open box Victron controllers here: https://invertersrus.com/victron-...tock-sale/

Bought many different blue/smart controllers (saving around 20%) from them and all worked perfectly.

Site is updated with new parts frequently. I check once a week or so for new stuff.
