The most hyped things about the Panther Lake Lineup is the integrated graphics and efficiency. However, it is very misleading and confusing for the end users.
Intel has released around 10 Pathner Lake H Series CPUs as of now but among them only 4 SKUs (Ultra X9 388H, Ultra X9 378H, Ultra X7 368H, Ultra X7 358H) have this B390 Graphics (12 Xe Cores) and one (Core Ultra 5 338H) has Arc B370 Graphics (10 Xe Cores).
All the rest of the Processors just have 4 Xe Cores, unlike older series, where the GPU Core count decreases gradually. As a result, Those CPU's integrated Graphics Performance, say the Core Ultra 7 356H of your example, has poor iGPU performance than older Arc 140V and 130V in Lunar Lake Core Ultra 7 and Core Ultra 5 and even slower than Arc 140T in Core Ultra 7 255H (Arrow Lake) as those are having 8 or 7 Xe Cores.
Now regarding CPU performance, Intel never promised higher performance over Arrow Lake. So, you will get similar raw performance for that processor as from 255H or AMD's Ryzen AI 9 365/ 370/465/470. However, due to better efficiency, the battery life is better across the board.
So, unless you are getting oneof those Processors with 12 Core B390M or 10 Core B370M Graphics, don't pay a lot of money over last generation Arrow Lake Processors. I would always get a Core Ultra 7 255H based or Ryzen AI 9 HX 470/370 or AI 9 365/465 based laptop by paying a lot extra over Non X sereis Panther Lake 300 series Chips. They will give you more or less same CPU performance, better iGPU performance and slightly less battery life.
1. Screen is great and plenty bright for me. I don't think I've ever had it above 50%, but I also never use it outside. Didn't think I would ever use the touchscreen but I've made several dashboards I used during impromtu presentations where it was nice to be able to tap the screen to go to a new figure.
2. Battery life has been great. If I was doing basic development, emails, etc. I could probably get full work-day battery life if I kept the brightness down lower.
3. Touchpad is awful; I hate it so much. It's enormous (not bad) but the palm rejection is terrible (very bad). It goes right to the bottom edge where you want to rest your palm as well.
Even with the terrible touchpad would definitely buy again at the $1400 price point. I just carry a wireless mouse in my bag and use that as much as possible.
I just recently finished an XPS with the same chip, and im working on a x9 thinkpad as i type this also same chip.
And a bunch of intel b390 handheld stuff coming.
In the end, you can see im pretty hyped about intels return to being good

I just recently finished an XPS with the same chip, and im working on a x9 thinkpad as i type this also same chip.
And a bunch of intel b390 handheld stuff coming.
In the end, you can see im pretty hyped about intels return to being good

CPU perf sort of like arrow lake with better battery

main rig is 9950x and I can remote into it for heavy lifting but it's nice to have a capable laptop when in cant remote into the desktop... plus for longevity I'm worried about the 16gb in the swift but it's half the cost and checks all of boxes.

How does this Intel Core Ultra X7 358H processor compare with the Snapdragon x2 in terms of raw performance?
My use case is primarily productivity applications, and occasionally lite coding with AI agents, and photo editing with Lightroom.
I can't make up my mind. Besides the screen size and resolution differences I also know that Costco return policy is 90-days and Lenovo 30 days
If your spending good money make sure to get 32. Because you will wind up with a great capable cpu and a beautiful laptop that you will be forced to upgrade from because of the stupid ram.
Like my yoga 6. CPU still good enough for me, it's a perfect laptop for my portable work PC. But since it only has 8gb ram it's basically useless to me now. And I am stuck buying an entire new laptop for my onsite work.
Do yourself a favor and get as much ram as you can up front because you can't upgrade it later. 16gb is bare minimum now days. (I mean I can still get by on 8gb but you can't really multitask it good).
Internet browsers suck up all the ram. Lol
My home laptop has 64gb and I'm using 90%+ all times lol. So yea for me my minimum is 32 when looking.
