Notifications and Activity question

Wondering why I am seeing threads by a specific poster in my Notifications and Activity? I would think that would be going by my alerts, but there are dozens of threads by just one poster. I am good with going on particular forums and looking for what is new, but why is it in Notifications?
Or, can I exclude posts by that OP from my feed? Not what I would like to do but if there is no other option?
Don't want to offend that poster as they post some good stuff but that is just too many.

Finding that page is not the most intuitive. In classic the link in your profile is removed if you block people from being able to follow you, so you have to temporarily unblock if you don't have the url bookmarked. This doesn't happen in redesign but the management page is still in a different place from the setting, so easy to miss if you're not sure what you're looking for.
