Looks like this is Pastigio M15R5 which is running Android 8.0.1. Going to try and use it for home automation dashboard.

That's really tempting, is there any existing community documentation for side loading and running apps like Fully Kiosk on these photo frames? Curious how involved the process would be?

I've bought several of this model in the past. Never less than $99 before. Just bought 2 more today at $65 each (dedicate each one for portrait and landscape images). I like the included Frameo software. Gets updated regularly. Many display options. Picture quality is quite nice at full HD.

Let me let you all on a little secret and a hidden gem.

Buy a lifetime sub for this app instead: https://digitalphotoframeapp.com/

Then you can recycle all your old iPads (even iPad 2s sometimes!). I have 6 photo frames all networked together in an isolated AppleiD. Work office 1, work office 2, home, parent's living room, home living room. All networked together via iCloud Shared album . Compatible with photos, live photos, videos. Dev is very engaged, super cool and it's getting updates.

It also now compatible with Immich! Highly, highly recommended. Worth every penny for lifetime price.

Disclaimer: I am NOT the dev, not affiliated with him in any way other than being a super happy customer. My family's memories are very important to me.

Yeah that's great and all, but only if you have iOS devices to take advantage of it. This is a fraction of the price of a used and older iPad these days with Android under the hood for decent hackabilty and Home Assistant potential.

I have an old iPad, that can get upgraded past 17.1 can I still use this? How much is lifetime app? Can you install on multiple devices, or does each one need its own lifetime license?

This is an interesting new approach I was not aware of. Could you please provide more details? How much does it cost? Why do you network the iPads? Thanks
