This refurbished Galaxy S22+ is a capable older Android phone with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, solid everyday performance, and enough battery for nearly a full day in some cases. The comments also point to decent long term reliability, with some units still working well after years of use. The main concerns are battery wear, overheating, and occasional network or reboot issues, plus the phone is nearing the end of Samsung security support in February 2027. Cosmetic scuffs on the body have also shown up on refurb units, so it feels best suited to buyers who can live with age and tradeoffs.

  • Light phone users who want a capable Android for everyday apps, because the S22+ can still run fine and some units hold nearly a full day of battery life.

  • People who need a compact unlocked phone for basic use, because the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 is still capable for most tasks.

  • Buyers comfortable with a used-looking refurb, because the body can show corner scuffs while the screen stays scratch-free and the phone still works fine.

How's battery life/health?
I have S22+ since it was released. So 4+ years. Battery has never been great. Nowadays I have to charge it 2-3 times a day. Yes, I use my phone a lot. And it might just be me because I have a lot of apps/widgets on my phone. I am looking for a new phone in a year mainly because of dead pixel on the screen from constant drops. Also the camera is got really blurry. Probably due to years of dirt and dust built up.

Yes, the s22 series was notorious for overheating and as a consequence, short battery life. There are plenty of complaints online. Here's a possible fix:

For those worried about overheating...4 years with an S22+ & I've only ever had it overheat TWICE, & it was usually at the beach or a park in my home state of FLORIDA on a hot day! Never had issues with overheating otherwise.

Well the main updates are newer versions of Android which people might want. And the other type of updates are security updates, theoretically for patching any known exploits that might pop up for a particular phone. Realistically it probably won't ever affect you.
well both are proven useless, you need a cheap phone to make calls not get updates.

This phone is 4 generations old. I'm sure it's fine as my wife is still using an S20 with no issues, but for a phone this old with cosmetic issues, I can't say this is a screaming deal.

My phone over heats running spotify only in my pocket. And battery life is terrible now. with every update that if forced it seems to get worse and worse. Originally i could get through about a day and a half before phone died. im not a heavy user. Now i have to charge it 3 to 5 times a day.

And yes phone overheats a ton. Had the s22 plus since the first week it launched.

I wouldn't take the risk with the S22 variant. There is a lawsuit right now due to a boot looping and eventual death of the phone with the chips unsoldering themselves. I had one with the issue. If you search online, you can see how common it is with the S22 models. It seems like it is a matter of time with the device on when it'll happen to the phone.
I did some googling and goddamn, I better look for a new phone.

It's the LG boot loops all over again

I'm still using my S20 FE 5G UW with 512GB Samsung Micro-SD to store all my important stuff, not trusting a cloud backup that reads all my personal files. I have a Samsung USB-c flash drive to backup all of it too, just in-case...nod
Battery still going strong, I only charge to 85% anyway.
I used to use the S20 FE 5G. It is not the UW model. It still works great, too. It was mainly the security updates that told me to upgrade. So I upgraded to the S25 FE. I am still sad that I lost the microSD card slot.

The 2nd reason is that I saw the RAM and storage prices getting up there in price. I saw a good deal with the S25 FE with my Best Buy gift card a few months ago, and I thought it was time to do it too.

I might do something that I normally do not do. I might get the S26 FE if it comes out with 256GB of storage as the base model, unless Samsung does something different.

If nobody has mentioned this yet, the Galaxy S22 series of phones will no longer receive security updates come Feb '27. At the moment, they only receive quarterly updates as they back off of supporting this device. That leaves you with maybe getting a couple of security updates to one of these devices before it stops getting any support in ~7 months.

I just upgraded from the S22 Ultra about a month ago for this reason. Sure, they MIGHT push a few more security updates after their stated support has ended but it will be minimal, if at all and cannot be counted on. You can flash other software but 99/100 normal users don't want to go through that trouble.
