I'm looking at a used one of these near me for half the price, but I'm hesitant as I'm coming from IPS and unsure of if VA will be worthwhile as I do occasional photo editing. Is Samsung one of the worthwhile VA makers or should I stick with my trusty ancient LG ultrawide

If you know and can see the difference between VA and IPS, then you need to wait for IPS

stay with IPS. also i would really advise against getting a monitor used. no telling when it will die and you will be left with no warranty
