This Metro Samsung Galaxy A57 5G deal stands out for 256GB storage, 8GB of RAM, and a bigger screen than typical prepaid phones. It also brings 6GHz Wi Fi and Bluetooth 6.0, and the phone unlocks after 365 days from activation with no further service payments after the initial purchase. The main knocks are its weaker Samsung camera optimization, a 5 megapixel macro camera, and security support ending in March 2028. DeX support is also limited on this A series model, so it fits best if storage and everyday use matter more than desktop features.
The deal includes 256GB storage, which can be more practical than the 128GB capacity seen on other Metro prepaid options.
The phone is reported to unlock after 365 days from activation, and the unlock policy is explicitly referenced for planning.
Number porting reportedly brings the total cost down to about $141 after the initial purchase and required charges.
The A57 can offer a 6GHz Wi‑Fi connection and Bluetooth 6.0 alongside its larger screen and 256GB storage.
Camera performance is criticized for poor optimization, with the phone reportedly using a lot of RAM and killing other apps.
The 5MP macro camera is questioned as outdated for 2026 expectations.
Pseudo or wireless DeX support is described as unreliable, including screen timeouts and laggy or glitchy behavior versus wired DeX.
Security support is reported to end in March 2028, which may limit long-term confidence for updates.

After the unlock if I bring it to another carrier (Verizon/ATT) does the firmware/bootscreen automatically switch to the new carriers?

You can flash a stock rom on it to get the samsung boot screen (if you are into those things).
