The Z623 is a compact 2.1 desktop speaker system best known for big bass and loud, room filling sound. The subwoofer gets the most praise, with long term owners describing it as powerful enough for dorm parties and still going strong after years on a PC. At this price, it stands out as a strong value for anyone wanting a simple, punchy setup. The main caveat is reliability, especially the power button and control module, and this version appears to offer only aux and RCA inputs, not optical.
Common Questions (5)
Several owners report 10 to 15+ years of use with the speakers still performing well. The main failures mentioned are the control module, power button, or damage from spills and storms rather than normal sound output.
Yes. The subwoofer is described as a monster and beastly for its size, with enough output for PC setups and even dorm parties. The system is rated at 130W RMS for the sub and 35W RMS per satellite.
This version appears to have only aux and RCA inputs, not optical. If you need TV or digital audio, plan on using analog connections instead.
The power button can fail over time and may start making a scratching noise. A practical workaround is to leave the system on and avoid relying on the button, with some owners taping it down or removing the controls.
It can work with some TVs, but Toslink/fiber caused loud feedback with a newer 2025 TV in one setup. Analog aux worked instead, so it is worth testing with your TV before buying if optical input is important.

Its mostly in the sub. I still have 2 sets of the Z680's from early 2000's that still knock frames off the wall. The sub is beastly for how small it is. Now I dont know how their current stuff is, but the 680s were beastly for a PC setup.
