This Lenovo Duet Chromebook stands out as a compact laptop lite for travel, basic web use, office work, streaming, and remote access. The keyboard and kickstand case get strong praise, and the 11 inch touchscreen, USB C charging, and premium feel make it easy to carry and use. Battery life and general speed are described as fine for light tasks, with Linux app support adding flexibility. The main drawback is the 4 gigabytes of RAM, which can feel sluggish with heavier multitasking and makes it a poor fit for demanding apps or gaming.

Common Questions (5)

  • It can feel sluggish under normal to moderate workloads, and 4GB RAM means you need to keep tabs and apps under control. It is fine for lighter use, but it is not a good choice if you want heavy multitasking or serious computing.

  • Open-box units vary a lot: some arrived with the original box and a Lenovo 30W charger, while others came with no box, no charger, and missing accessories. A pen is not reliably included, and several buyers specifically reported receiving no pen.

  • Yes. It is compact, lightweight, and works well for travel-focused "laptop-lite" use such as web browsing, Google Docs, PDFs, work portals, and light office tasks. The keyboard/case combo is also praised for being ready instantly and easier to carry than a full laptop or tablet-plus-folio setup.

  • It can run productivity apps like Word, Excel, and Adobe-style apps, and some Play Store games install successfully. It is still a low-power Chromebook, so heavier gaming and demanding apps are limited.

  • Yes. The keyboard is repeatedly described as very good or top-notch, and the included kickstand case works well. The keyboard is also always ready to use and does not need charging, which makes it feel more laptop-like.

How is it using a Chromebook? Is it restrictive in functionality compared to a Windows PC, is web browsing similar to a Windows laptop/desktop?
So far I really like it. I can tell it is a little more sluggish at times than my Samsung A11+ however it is much less 'tablet' like vs the Samsung, which is what I really wanted (I didn't want a big phone, but a laptop-lite). I also greatly prefer the formfactor and the fact the keyboard is always ready to go (doesn't need to be turned on then wait a few seconds to connect, nor requires charging, also the KB also acts like a cover itself, and is instantly removeable as well. Smaller, thinner, and less floppy overall as opposed to the Samsung + keyboard folio I was rocking before.

Regarding apps. I have no installed any but have played lightly with the Word, Excel, Adobe (-ish) apps it comes with, and they also work much more PC like than a tablet. I'm also amazed I am able to install more than a few owned games I have from the Play Store like Titan's Quest. NOTE: I have not tried to play it yet...but I was impressed Google let me install it Wink

So far I am very happy.

TLDR: For $200+ retail, I likely wouldn't be very happy with it, for $122 in like new condition...zero complaints

Thanks. I purchased a few of these "Lenovo IdeaPad 1 14" Laptop. Intel Celeron N4500, 4GB , 128 SSD 82LV0075US" that came with Windows and 1 year 365 subs for $129ea , used $50 Cap1 bonuses at the time, used the 365 code then resold on ebay . But these things could not run windows, I tested Zorin on one and it ran great. Debating this. Just looking to leave my laptop home when i travel

Anyway, none near me so not even an option , oh well

That was kinda my goal too with this. My wife and I try to travel light and tend to go to multiple destinations (only carry-on's) and taking my 14" laptop is still someone burdensome space and weight wise. I don't want to go full tablet either, sometimes you need to edit a word file, type a long email, whatever. Hopefully this will be my happy median for those type trips.

Sorry you couldn't score one this time. Fingers crossed they'll go on scale again.

P.S. FWIW, the A11+ does do a decent PC-ish type experience in DeX mode with a keyboard attached. If I didn't find the Duet, I likely would have been happy with that config. The tablet was $125 on sale a few weeks ago and the keyboard / folio was $18 on Amazon. It is much more powerful, just bulkier and feels a little less purpose built (since I did cobble it together)

After using it for a few days I am planning to return it.

4 GB of RAM impact is real, and it feels sluggish with a normal to moderate workload (you can define your requirement and if it fits your need).

The keyboard is top-notch, and the cover case is pretty good. I wish someone would make such a keyboard/cover combo as universal as one that works on every tablet.

Yeah, not sure why manufacturers still sell 4gb ram when even a Linux based system like a Chromebook needs more than that to run efficiently. Especially when they do not even allow you to upgrade it

Is the RAM & storage upgradable? How many DIMM slots are there & is there a SD card slot to upgrade storage?

I always stop by every time I see a Chromebook offer to say that Chromebooks are garbage.
I'm always glad I can figure out what works for me on my own, without needing internet Trolls useless advice.

Even if you could upgrade somehow, the ram would cost more than the tablet. The processor is comparable to midrange from few years ago.

Admin/moderators: You guys really need to fix the down-voting system. New accounts with minimal posts are ruining your website.

That said--this price is low enough to where I want to buy it as a backup for my kid's Chromebook. But maybe if she breaks hers, she needs to go with the school's lousy ones for a bit?

Why is a Chromebook automatically gArBaGe? Chromebook is the OS and says nothing about the hardware as there are plenty of higher end Chromebook devices (and configurations) on the market. You can even turn most Chromebooks into a Linux device just buy flipping a switch in the settings. Not to mention they are a netbook option that (unlike Windows PC's) can also run Android apps side by side with a majority of 'office' type applications as well. Hard to say that for any other OS on the market (out of the box at least).

FWIW, I'm not sure most people would consider the compulsive need to spread uninformed opinions is something they'd typically brag about Wink

Picked it up fair condition, looks in pretty good shape. Using as a thin client, gets the job done. Outside does feel premium not cheap.
Looks like there's a spot for a pen on the back. I wasn't expecting it to come with a pen, are you guys finding pens with your open box?

I picked up 'FAIR' condition. It didn't even come with a box. The sticker was just slapped on it. Oh and No charger included as well.
But it was in good condition. Upon checking the settings. Battery health was 100% and it only had 6 cycles counts so I'm pretty pleased overall.
