1. The "Better for You" Claim (Where it comes from):
- Slightly Lower Glycemic Index (GI): White sugar has a GI of around 60–65, while coconut sugar sits around 35–54. Because it contains a small amount of soluble fiber (inulin), it absorbs a bit slower into your bloodstream, causing a slightly lower insulin spike.
- Trace Nutrients: Unlike hyper-refined white sugar, coconut sugar retains small amounts of minerals (potassium, magnesium, zinc, iron) and antioxidants because it's just dehydrated coconut palm sap.
- Unrefined: It isn't bleached or processed with chemical agents.

2. The Reality Check (Why sugar is still sugar)
- It's Still ~70–80% Sucrose: Once digested, sucrose breaks down into glucose and fructose in your body. Your liver processes coconut sugar almost identically to cane sugar.
- Calorie-for-Calorie Identical: It has about 15–20 calories per teaspoon, exactly like white or brown table sugar.
- Nutrient Density is Negligible: You would have to consume massive, highly unhealthy amounts of coconut sugar to get a meaningful daily intake of those trace minerals.

Instead of being a smarta** how about telling me where my response was incorrect. Personally, I would say the biggest benefit is the fact that the coconut sugar is less refined, so it's closer to its food origins as compared to the industrial commodity that is refined sugar. Organic is always better too. It may have a somewhat different flavor profile, couldn't say.

Don't you end up using more of this than white sugar to basically get to the same sucrose amount? Label also shows 0g fiber so I'd ignore that so called benefit.

But by using ChatGTP, we can have our electric rates keep skyrocketing AND get 3000 more datacenters buzzing 24/7

Win/win
