Bench top looks pretty thin. I don't have a problem with particle board, but this looks like it's only 1/2" thick.

3.7/5 star rating, but many complaints are about it arriving damaged, so temper your expectations.

I was thinking about getting rid of all the clutter in my garage which included some old beat up workbenches, but I wonder if replacing old and worn stuff like that with new potentially flimsy stuff would be a fools errand.

Bought a similar one to this (just different name on a white label workbench). For $60 it's not too bad, but it's not that stable or solid a surface. The sheet metal is only like 16 gage, so fine for many things you'd do on a workbench, but don't expect it to last more than 2 years. Look at the 360 degree image at walmart, the top shelf is slanted down, but it's not supposed to.

The edges are also sharp, so hard to move around if there's weight on them.

But the shelves are really bad, the mdf is really thin. Fine for notebooks and pencils/pens, but don't put a set of wrenches in them.

I have a harbor-freight version of this. From pictures they look identical. If you are looking for a light-duty bench for soldering ,dremeling, assembling etc., for $60 this is a no-brainer. If you need something for hammering, sawing, or bending, this aint it. The whole thing is about 100lbs, and the backboard and the roof will wobble with any motion.
