This refurbished MSI gaming desktop stands out for packing high-end parts like an RTX 5080, 64GB of DDR5, and a 2TB Gen4 SSD at a price that undercuts comparable new systems. The configuration is also described as a strong value for the CPU and memory, with some comparing it favorably to building the same setup from scratch. The main cautions are the limited 180 day MSI warranty, conflicting warranty wording on the spec sheet, and reports of refurb units arriving with swapped parts or Windows activation issues. It looks like a solid spec sheet deal, but the after-sale support deserves a close look.
Common Questions (6)
Yes. The 64GB DDR5 and 2TB Gen4 SSD are the main value drivers here, and the listed price is considered strong for that configuration. Comparable parts alone were estimated to account for most of the cost, making the bundle price look favorable.
The listing shows an 180-day MSI warranty, while the spec sheet mentions 1 year. That mismatch is a key concern because the deal is refurbished and may not carry the same protection as a new PC.
It can arrive looking brand new and run benchmarks and Prime95 without issues. Another buyer reported the system working normally since last December, which supports the idea that the hardware itself can be solid.
They appear to be shipped and refurbished by MSI directly, with units coming from MSI's California warehouse. That suggests the refurb process is handled by MSI rather than a third-party shop.
Yes. One unit arrived with a WD Green drive and TForce RAM instead of the pictured RGB RAM, and Woot issued a $200 adjustment after contact. It is worth checking the exact components on arrival, especially if the warehouse source is Ontario.
It can. One buyer received Windows Home installed but unactivated, and MSI's suggested factory-reset/BIOS activation did not resolve it, leading to an RMA process.

Do you not realize that you're contributing to the price increase?
Woot said I could send it back for a replacement. MSI told me to reset it to factory condition and that the BIOS would pick it up and activate it. That didn't happen. Now they want me to send it back with RMA for testing.
Doing all that will certainly cost them more than a key and I'd be out of the computer in the meantime. I kind of what to do it, but I feel like they'll just never send me a replacement or the fixed computer.
