I freeze chopped garlic and ginger mixed, tomato paste and stuff like that for cooking. Ice cubes are okay but too small, these would be perfect.

Main reason I'm buying this because of the trends of freezing meal prep stuff so it's faster cook times

These tend to be terrible for food prep as the sides aren't slopped and popping out food gets messy and annoying.

There are other food specific molds that are designed better for getting the food out.

Chopped basil in a little bit of water is also A++ to add to sauce at the end of cooking. Can do the same with a lot of the stronger herbs.

I also use these for meal prep for garlic, ginger, onion tomato, etc but found that silicone retains the smell and overtime, they get pretty smelly. I don't have a workaround yet about they but wanted to share about it

I put the silly-cone stuff in a sink with a good stopper and cover with water. add 1/2 to 1 cup of baking soda and let it sit for a day and a night and the smells are gone. I hope that helps. the only thing for which it does not work is the gasket of the insta-pot.

Baking soda neutralizes acids so it would work on acid smells but garlic and onion are sulfur based so it will do nothing to them. The way to get smells out of silicone is to bake it in the oven at ~250F for 30mins or leave it out in the sun for a while.

baking soda works for me. on Tupperware, other plastics, and yes silicone, glass jars that held stinky stuff, clothing, everything thing I can thing of, but if it ever fails me, I'll try your way. Thanks If there is residue after, jus pop in a little vinegar, acid plus base = gas plus salt and a neutral solution.
