Ah open box. I thought it was for new ones. That would actually be a killer deal

A big important detail -- the the 55/65/77/83" OLEDs use the newest technology while the 98" oled uses much older tech.

Even though they're all G5 series, the 98" uses an older panel And features and is not comparable. You're paying for the large size but not getting the real benefits of the G5

edit: it's also worth pointing out that many of these open box models that bestbuy is selling have significant hours and extensive burn in. talking 3500+ hours of runtime, running mostly demo content on full brightness. These don't seem to be tested beyond cosmetic condition, accessories and possibly "does it turn on"

Open box can also just be a return

You're correct, it can!
But a lot of these g5 97" sets were the "main display" in bestbuy stores' LG Oled setups.

These open box models are also rated "fair" condition, which is one of the lowest on their rating.

Even if it's in great condition, the TV itself is several generations old and should not have been called a G5 series.

For the price and the potential issues, it's a risky buy -- not that you would be stuck with it, but best case scenario you get a "not amazing" Tv and worst you're dealing with a return.

I love my OLEDs, I have a G5 77, and an older one, absolutely amazing. But with the problems on the 98" models I would just recommend getting a non-OLED in the 100" size. Any other case I'm all for the G5
