I purchased a used S25 edge (about 80 days old) in Feb for $550. Went down the rabbit hole of thin phones and purchased an iPhone Air in April for daily usage. Work/personal separation helps when it's 2 devices.

Where the S25 Edge is better:


Battery life: I use 95% limit on both devices and the S25 Edge does last longer. Faster to charge.
Camera: The S25 Edge, especially the 0.6x outdoes the iPhone Air for photography and videos, that I find myself naturally reaching for it when capturing a moment.
Speakers/Mic: The S25 Edge has dual speaker/stereo recording - Videos (capture and playback) are better than the iPhone Air's mono mic. Calling on loudspeaker/conferencing is easier too.

Where the S25 Edge suffers:


Bloatware - Too much of it, unwarranted and unyielding. Have to disable, remove, uninstall a bunch of crap. The google + samsung version of everything is just BS. And google needs to think of new iconography for their icons.
UI/UX - Samsung suffers here. Too much background processes, tracking telemetry slows down the whole experience. Even with animations/transitions set to 0.5 it's slower than my older OnePus 13. Samsung needs to de-bloat their builds and software.
Display/touch response - While Samsung S25 Edge does carry the bigger display, the iPhone Air's just feels right and snappier. The colors are better on the iPhone air.

The slim/sleek form factor? People ask you more about the S25 edge than the iPhone Air.

No, the edge is not a higher flagship. The S25+ is thicker, heavier, has a bigger battery for longer battery life, has a telephoto lens and better glass for the screen. The edge has a better main camera. They have the same processor, same RAM, same screen resolution, etc.

And as you said, those devices aren't unlocked and require you to switch carriers, which isn't a fair comparison. This is a great deal for an unlocked device with no restrictions. Not everyone is looking to switch carriers.

Good to hear. Watch the C1 dashboard for any changes. My denials also showed as pending before they denied them. They look HARD for ways to deny you. Navigate away from the screen for any reason, an AdBlock you forgot to turn off, any extensions that might interfere. It's a long list. What I don't like is that I bought through a C1 "frontpage deal" and I guess on another purchase with a different website they considered it a frontpage deal so they denied it. I raised a stink and they caved but their reputation with me is a little damaged right now.

I got the S25U for about $600 new with one of those BF deals with paypal credit on the pay in 4 and other stuff. So, there's always a good chance that waiting out on a S26U will work out better unless you're desperate for a phone right now.

S26 is a lower end flagship with a newer chip, so mixed bag. It's like the base iPhone 17 vs the Air. A lot of people prefer the base model, and that might be you. One difference is that this phone is more capable than the Air in that analogy, and also brings the Ultra's 200MP camera.
Additionally the mint deal requires staying on mint for some amount of time to unlock it, anywhere between 2-12 months based on the unlock policy.
