This is a tiny dedicated MP3 player aimed at screen free listening, travel, workouts, and kids who want music without phone distractions. It is very light, adds Bluetooth 5.3, FM radio, a headphone jack, and microSD expansion, and it can be handy for offline use on planes, camping, or in the car. The main concerns are storage and sound quality, since the 32GB version can feel tight, the advertised memory setup is confusing, and some reports call the audio flat or the Bluetooth unreliable. It makes the most sense if you want a simple standalone music device.

That's surprising since the were designed to fail after warranty ran out. typical apple style. also as they had mechanical hdd's. you must have gotten very lucky.
The nanos and touches have flash memory. Many of those, including mine, are also 15+ years old

Getting batteries for old phone isn't that hard. Also why does it needs Bluetooth? A pair of wired headphones is sufficient. The thing does one thing and one thing only and that's music doesn't need to be overly complicated.
And getting a custom battery for a old phone isn't that hard? Because the phone is out of production and or nobody wants to open it up? How much do you expect the legacy battery to cost compared to this 18 dollar device? What's more complicated in comparison?

As for Bluetooth headphones...there are people who do sports drills with music. Bluetooth earbuds are a life changer.

Smart Phones already have these features plus more.
Exactly. I purchased 3 Motorola g power phones (5000 mah) a couple years back and I only use them as music players. Each one has an identical monstrous library of music. They're not activated for phone service and I put nothing else on them and shut down all the stuff I'm not going to use, to reduce battery drain. I did a Google AI speech question about how long would those phones play music without using it as a phone, it says 70 to 100 hours. Some of those models you could get for around $100 and some will take up to 512 GB or 1 TB micro SD cards.

Listening to music without any form of notification or distraction it's probably one of the most satisfying forms of peace.

Do Not Disturb is on 24/7. I add exceptions for family members

I still rock mine for when I travel. Great for use on the plane. I also had installed the Rockbox firmware on it too. Cool
Good lord, that takes me back. My Sansa is around here somewhere, also with Rockbox 😂

It's amazing how many of you don't know about do not disturb mode on phones. You can even have it automatically disabled after specific time periods
